”Comfortable, well equipped 2 bedroom lodge with the living room, kitchen, bathroom, garden, parking space. Very kind owners always ready to talk. Property surrounded by a beautiful nature - green hills, farm animals. Not far are nice trails for hiking. Kendal is only 6 miles away. I recommend this place and I want to come back in the future.”

”Nice location (quite remote and quiet) and friendly staff. Some gaps in the breakfast service, e.g. lacking glasses, plates etc. And the breakfast ended already at 9 which was very early for me. The condition of the hotel was quite worn-out and occasionally dirty, there were several spiderwebs and spiders in the hallway and the smell of our room was musty. ”

”Very relaxed atmosphere and staff always polite and helpful - brilliant location for an overnight stay being actually on the motorway but once at the hotel you wouldn’t know it. ”

”The indoor spa was great. Staff were awesome as well - really professional. Can imagine it's great when the outdoor spa is open and during the summer. Some of the negatives...breakfast could do with some improvements, the ingredients tasted low quality some of the cooking was questionable (fried eggs for example). The place had a general feel of getting refurbished so felt hard done by paying full price... Our room (28) smelt like drains and the view was blocked by scaffolding. Also some mold...

”Room was clean, the decor was in need of a refresh. The carpet on the stairs leading up to the rooms is very off putting and had me worried about the room itself. So I was pleasantly surprised. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was ok, plenty of hot water and the shower was great. Breakfast was very good and the staff were pleasant. ”

We thought the main bedding could be better with a bit more blackout curtain/blinds as the ambient lights outside were on for a longer period at night - these are some feedback for the sake of it. ”We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Oak. The room was basic, but clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner there as well and it was delicious. The breakfast was good. My husband got the full English and I got scrambled eggs and bacon. The scrambled eggs seemed to be the rehydrated kind, but otherwise the meal was good. We would stay here again. ”

”Lovely hotel and staff, pool very nice. Room disappointing. Building works going on throughout the hotel which wasn’t made clear at booking. We were in a ‘family room’ which was essentially a meeting room converted on the ground floor. The only radiator in such a large room was around half a meter from my head when in bed, the chosen location very uncomfortable and I therefore did not sleep well at all. Shower tray flooded easily which was annoying. Ok but the experience was certainly...
