Five star accommodation and location

Furnished and supplied with the best. Manuel was the best of host. Everything within a short walking distance, including some of the primary sights.

Beautiful apartment, fantastic location

Apartment is perfect! Well stocked, beautifully appointed. Location cannot be better. Walk to Royal Palace, Opera, restaurants, market. Host, Manuel, was totally accomadating! Would absolutely stay again on return visits to Madrid.

Week long stay at Ilaia Madrid Palacio

This apartment is great when visiting Madrid. Major sites are within walking distance. Plaza Mayor and Mercado San Miguel are a 10 minute walk away. Close to Calle de Preciados and Gran Vía but offered a quiet escape from the city. Manuel is welcoming and provides a great overview of the apartment and surrounding area. Will definitely stay here again.

Modern style condo

Manuel's condo was a very spacious one bedroom con do with all conviences. Excellent & quiet location in the center of Madrid. He was very helpful and we use whatsapp to communicate which helps with translation between english and spanish. We highly recommend this place.

Great Stay! Highly Recommend!

This is a great property for 2, located in the heart of Old Madrid, close to the Opera, Royal Palace, Mercado de San Miguel, La Gran Via, Callao Street, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Property is very comfortable, super clean, everything looks brand new, and the host is amazing. You can rely on him for whatever you may need or concerns you may have.

Absolutely Fantastic

Manuel has a fantastic apartment in a great location He was there to greet us and had a very well prepared information package that covered everything about the apartment My wife and I commented that it looked as if it had been newly renovated but we found out that it has been that way for 7 years Manuel is very proud of the transformation he undertook and showed us some photographs of the renovation process. The location is very close to the hustle and bustle of the Gran Via but on a quiet street. There are lots of places to eat nearby and a grocery store is close by. We didn’t spend enough time in Madrid and will be back and hopefully stay at Manuel’s apartment again 5 stars for sure for a couple visiting Madrid

Home Away From Home in Madrid

This was our first visit back to Madrid in some 30 years and we decided to make it our first VRBO experience. We were pleasantly surprised. From the moment we sent our questions to our host, Manuel, through the booking, the advice seeking, the pre-arrival prep and then on-site check-in and hospitality, this was an extremely favorable experience. Manuel's apartment is exactly as described -- modern, clean and geographically desirable in the center of the city. And then Manuel's "user guide" to the apartment, local restaurants and more made us feel like we had close friends in Madrid. We are an active senior couple and strongly recommend this rental on so many levels. Thank you, Manuel!

What an excellent space.

The posting for this apartment almost seemed too good to be true, but it was accurately listed and the other reviews on here did not over sell it. The apartment is beautiful and luxurious, is located in an upscale neighborhood close to shopping, restaurants, local attractions and the metro station. The host really went above and beyond here. He communicated with us leading up to our trip and met us at the apartment to go over all the little details and to answer any questions we had. He has a comprehensive guide that covers every detail of the apartment, and it proved to be a handy resource on several occasions. I don’t typically review things but in this instance I was truly impressed with the space and our host. If you get the opportunity to book this place I highly recommend it.

Exceptional in every way!

A fabulous apartment stay for any visit to Madrid. We parked our cans didn’t need it once. We explored near and far by foot; a perfect location. Manuel was the perfect host. He met us just outside the door and was warm and inviting. His tour was thorough and his book gad all the answers in writing. He really hasn’t forgotten anything . He even stocked things that you could use but would still go out and just buy for yourself. His gift bag for our five night stay was so very welcoming and kind and both fun. An outstanding host

Manuel, our host, has done a great job of renovating the apt. The apt is clean, well stocked, plenty big for two people, well-lit, has sufficient outlets, and good wifi. It has higher-end appliances (Bosch W/D, Nespresso, ...) and a little lounge chair for putting your feet up at the end of the day. The location is good, including for catching a cab since there's a hotel across the street where there seemed always to be a cab. A little grocery market is 2 blocks away. Our plane was delayed an hour so we arrived about 6:30pm - Manuel was waiting for us to give a walk through of the apt. Plus he had a basket with salad makings and crackers, exactly what we needed after almost 24 hours of travel. Thank you so much Manuel for your hospitality! I would absolutely highly recommend this apt.

Spectacular apartment!

I can't say enough about our stay in Manuel's wonderful apartment. It's beautifully renovated and decorated, with the thoughtful amenities you'd expect from a 5-star hotel including huge fluffy towels, bathrobes, extras you might have forgotten to pack, such as sunscreen . . . and a welcome basket with the essentials to get you started as well as a lovely bottle of wine and 2 cans of beer! and the kitchen is well stocked with spices, olive oil and vinegars. The central location meant we walked everywhere, and enjoyed delicious meals at a host of local restaurants. Manuel sent links to sights and activities before we arrived, greeted us at the apartment, walked us through and left us with a binder detailing everything we needed to know. We loved Madrid - you should go! And you simply can't stay in a more warm and welcoming home!

The most PERFECT stay.

The place is gorgeous. I was comfortable and felt like I’m at home. Manual is a wonderful and gracious host. Showed me how to use the appliances. He was available to answer my questions. I was highly impressed with how well thought the place was with towels, bedding, dishes and cutlery. The bathroom was very nice! Bedroom is large with a very comfortable bed. Manuel had a basket prepared for me. I will recommend THIS place to anyone going to Madrid. Everything is near by!! I felt safe in the building as a single female. Gracias Manuel! Rani, from Vancouver Canada. It truly was in the centre of Madrid with almost no trouble getting anywhere. Metro is 80m away, grocery store 90m away. Taxis outside because there is a hotel across the street.

Fabulous place to stay in Madrid

We have rented many places using VRBO and we've stayed in places that have a great location or are well stocked with lots of gadgets, or are stylishly designed, or have an owner that goes out of their way to try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. But this is the only place where every single thing about it rates 5+ stars. Communication with Manuel is excellent and his meeting with me and my wife in the unit to explain how everything works was helpful because this unit has so many features and gadgets you need a debriefing. The appliances in the unit are top notch and the apartment is well stocked with everything. My only regret is that we didn't stay long enough to use all of the things in the apartment! The gift basket and information on Madrid was also helpful and much appreciated. The location near the Royal Palace and the Opera metro station made it ideal for navigating around the city. As several other reviewers have noted, Manuel takes a lot of pride in this apartment and it definitely shows. This is a fabulous place to stay for however long you are in Madrid. Do NOT hesitate, BOOK this apartment!!!

Where to even start?? This apartment was FAR BEYOND our wildest expectations! I have stayed in many homes over the last decade (around the world), and this easily makes my top three! Communications with Marisa and Manuel were top-notch from beginning to end – and fast, at that! They meet you upon arrival with smiles and all the information you require about the apartment and the area. Marisa is kind enough to check in each day briefly to make sure all is well. And she is always there and super quick to respond should you have any questions at all about anything! They are very kind, genuine souls who run a smooth and successful operation! The apartment itself was even bigger and better than in the photos! Upon entering it each day, you are greeted with a cool (lots of air conditioning available, should you wish!), sweet scent in the air that comes from a gorgeous scent system they have installed. The space is absolutely immaculately clean and stocked with literally every kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom accessory you could ever dream of or need (and then some!) They even had a flat iron available in the bathroom for girls like me who require one every day! Kitchen is fully stocked with spices, the basics… including a very large welcome basket of goodies that will keep you going when you need a snack/bite to eat (including a bottle of wine!). OH, and the bathroom towels are to-die-for; high-quality! The bed is also huge and out-of-this-world comfortable (along with the duvet and selection of pillows to suit your individual preference!) Even though you want to explore Spain, it will be tough to get out of that luxurious, cozy bed in the morning! This apartment is cozy, comfy, dreamy and all-around perfect, really. Location-wise, it is in a beautiful, central and fantastic local area, walking distance to so many great spots/neighbourhoods! (Royal Palace & Teatro Royal are literally at the end of your street!) We spent 6 nights in this apartment and I wish it was longer! It instantly felt like a (spoiled & luxurious!) home away from home, and now that I AM back home, I seriously think of it from time to time and miss it quite a lot! I would stay here again in a heartbeat …but for even longer next time! I can honestly not say enough wonderful/positive things about this rental; you will NOT regret booking this apartment, trust me! Just do it! 

EXCELLENT

Excellent!!!. We travel a lot, whenever possible with VRBO . We prefer being part of a neighborhood instead of a hotel. inOur place Madrid was probably the nicest home we have rented. Marissa, the owner was fabulous with all correspondence. She literally greeted us at the door, helped with luggage and explained all the ins and outs of the apartment. Including all the electronics. The place is IMMACULATE. We felt like we must be the first to stay there. So will appointed with anything you could think of. A welcome basket, wine, coffee, chocolate etc. Even the hairdryer was high end, and a straight iron. Marissa clearly has attention to every detail. . LOCATION. We spent almost a week at apartment. A experiência que tivemos de três meses (dez/2019-fev/2020) em Madri como hóspedes no charmoso apartamento de Marisa e Manuel foi além de nossas expectativas. Antes de mesmo de nossa chegada à Espanha, já sentimos todo cuidado de Marisa e Manuel com a nossa estadia. A acolhida com uma bela cesta de café da manhã com produtos locais foi de extremo bom gosto. Tudo no apartamento, desde utensílios domésticos, aparelhos elétricos e eletrônicos, roupas de cama, mesa e banho parecem terem sido comprados recentemente de tão novos que eram. A localização é estupenda, palavra que os espanhóis gostam de utilizar. Não foi necessário utilizar um centavo de taxi ou uber para conhecer tudo de bom que essa cidade tem potencial de oferecer. E para os apreciadores de caminhadas não faltam opções. O apartamento conta com um eficiente isolamento acústico e excelente sistema de calefação, o que nos permitiu sossego e tranquilidade , além da sua localização de fato e verdade ser próximo do Palácio Real , da Gran Via e inúmeros restaurantes para todos os gostos, desde aqueles para degustar uma boa cerveja espanhola e tapas variados até os que oferecem pratos sofisticados e bem elaborados. Para os apreciadores de cinema e teatro, a poucos passos do apartamento não faltarão opções para os todos os preços, desde uma ópera no Teatro Real ou filmes cult ou comerciais no Cine Capitol ou Cine Callo. As compras de gêneros alimentícios foram tranquilas, pois a poucos metros há dois mercados, e para aqueles que gostam de produtos gourmet, está a poucos metros o El Corte Inglês, com sua seção de produtos selecionados espanhóis, mas também de várias partes do mundo, vale apena conferir ! Como vivemos três meses nesse apartamento, decidimos contratar um serviço de limpeza semanal, sob supervisão da proprietária, o qual recomendo fortemente , pois o resultado é superior a de um hotel 5 estrelas, além de sobrar mais tempo para o lazer. Por fim, a escolha por essa acomodação foi muito acertada e temos convicção que seus futuros hóspedes também serão felizes nesse mesmo local, assim como nós fomos. Marcus Levy e Amanda

Fantastic!

My husband and I stayed 5 nights in this fantastic apartment, and cannot say enough good things. It was even better than the pictures, perfectly appointed with such an attention to detail - the welcome basket, clearly marked containers of everything from spices to laundry soap, and even extra toiletries. The location was perfect, and we could walk to all of the main attractions. Excellent double glazed doors meant practically no outside noise...we could go on. Lastly, Marisa and Manuel made sure we had everything we needed, and checked in while we were there to be sure all was going smoothly. If you have the chance to stay in this apartment, don't hesitate!!

Best place ever to stay in Madrid

We very much enjoyed everything about our stay at the perfect one bedroom apartment in a wonderful location in Madrid. Can't be beat! Everything in the apartment is to a very high standard and immaculate.The bed is extremely comfortable and there closet area is fantastic. Linens, appliances, fireplace, TV works really well. The apartment is very well laid out and efficient. We were met by the hosts who showed us how everything works which was extremely helpful and are lovely, checking in on us during our stay. We really appreciated the basket of goodies upon arrival as we had come from a long flight and didn't feel like rushing out to buy provisions. They also have some local tips. Groceries are nearby and there are a few metro stops close by so you can get anywhere. We highly recommend this apartment and will definitely be back! Much more than a five star rental.

Deserves a 10

I just completed a thirty-four night stay and can happily confirm that all of the glowing reviews are accurate. This is a beautifully decorated, fully equipped, and lovingly maintained apartment for which the owners have thought of everything one could want for comfort and convenience. The location is perfect for seeing the city: close to two Metro lines, in easy walking distance of the major sights and attractions, and surrounded by a wide variety of shopping and restaurants. Food markets are varied as well and close by. I felt safe at all times. As others have reported, the owners are special. Gracious and friendly, they checked on me regularly to see whether I needed anything, answered questions immediately, and were always ready with advice and information. I am a celiac and they took care to make my welcome basket gluten free and point me towards a great gluten free bakery. I had absolutely no problems, issues, or disappointments during my five week stay. I plan to return. Thank you so much, Jose and Marisa!

Best Apartment in the Best Location

It is hard to explain in words how wonderful this place and the hosts are. Firstly, this is the most modern apartment my wife and I have ever stayed in. The attention to detail is second to none. Jose and Marisa greeted us, showed us around, and made us feel like family. I wish we could have just stayed and lived in this place. I am sure you are thinking that the pictures must make this place to good to be true, but honestly, the property was even better than the amazing pictures on this site. Honestly, this was an amazing find and anyone would be lucky to spend some time at this place. Thank you for the hospitality!

Can I give 10 stars?

This was the best apartment we have ever stayed at, and we travel alot and have used both Airbnb and VRBO. The apartment is beautiful and in an excellent location. The amenities and personal touches are top notch, from the bed and linens to the towels and all the little things you may have forgot to bring, they remembered and placed themin the apartment for your use. It is obvious that Marissa and Manuel put their heart and soul into renovating this apartment to be something extraordinary and they are so sweet and welcoming. I wish we could've moved in :)

This property was exceptional in every way! Marisa and Manuel greeted us warmly on our arrival, then spent time showing us everything in the apartment. A very generous package of provisions was provided. After a long haul flight from Australia, the bed was a dream and so comfortable! Everything about this apartment is exceptional, clean, pristine and of the highest quality. Absolutely everything you could need (and more) was provided. The apartment is in a perfect location and an easy walking distance from all major attractions. Marisa checked in with us during our stay to make sure everything was ok. Look no further - this is definitely the place to stay!

Believe every single one of the many accolades you see about this apartment and its lovely owners - and much, much more! My husband and I travel overseas at least twice a year, and have stayed at many, many vacation rentals. This apartment, without a doubt, is the best we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. It isn’t just how well-appointed the apartment itself is, with exquisite fittings, a gorgeous kitchen with literally every tool you could possibly need, the perfect location, a stunning shower, a top-rate television with just about every movie channel you could ask for (Netflix fans? Not a problem here.) It’s the way Marisa and Manuel run their business. They’ve thought of everything and more: Fresh bathrobes in multiple sizes, in case one doesn’t fit. Various pillow options, in case you prefer softer or firmer. A collection of cellphone cables and converters in case you need an extra or forgot or lost yours. Maps of Madrid and other Spanish cities galore. And, of course, the famous welcome basket, with a carefully selected bottle of wine and enough snacks and food to get you through several days and beyond, but also a fridge with soft drinks, beers, juice. I them they should start a consulting business for VRBO or those wanting to run a B&B. They’re that good. And also that kind. Believe me when I tell you: You will NOT regret choosing to stay here. I can’t wait to return.

Best Rental Apartment Ever

We have rented flats and cottages all over the world for over 25 years and Ilaia Madrid Palacio is one of the finest we have encountered. First of all, everything written in earlier reviews about how wonderful and helpful Marisa & Manuel are is completely true. They met us at the flat for an early check-in (very much appreciated), explained everything thoroughly, and checked in with us a couple of times during our stay to make sure all was well. I had one minor question a few days in, which was answered immediately. Second, the location of the flat is just fantastic, right in the middle of everything, but on a small, quiet street (filled with gorgeous flowering trees during our visit). There is a rather grand hotel across the street where taxis are always available, and a cafe with outdoor tables right below. No noise came through our windows, but it made for fun people-watching. Third, the flat itself is more than just beautiful, it is also super functional, which is so important. Everything worked perfectly: cook top & oven, clothes washer/dryer, shower/hot water, TV (complete with Netflix, which we really enjoyed), cool fire/humidifier, very comfortable bed, etc., etc. Everything was top quality and extremely well maintained. Finally, one other thing that set this rental apart was how wonderfully well-stocked it was. There was the lovely basket of provisions (cheese, wine, crackers, cookies, chocolates, milk, butter, jam, probably more that I'm forgetting) and also, besides salt & pepper, lots of herbs, olive oil, sherry & balsamic vinegar, etc. We love to shop markets and cook in new cities, so that was wonderful for us. If you are looking for a rental in Madrid absolutely plan your trip around the availability of this flat--you'll be very happy you did!
