”The hotel makes an immediate impression on first sight, occupying an impressive location in well-maintained grounds. Our accommodation was spacious and well appointed, albeit its cleanliness can best be described as ok. The restaurant is well presented even if the carpet shows a few silver snail trails. Breakfast was on par for the standard of the hotel while the fine dining offering experienced was of questionable value. Overall, the hotel reflects a slick business model.”

”Excellent staff very kind and hospitable and very nice pub food and breakfast. LargeTV screen to watch the World Cup and BBC I player to catch up on the highlights, all good.”

”No evening meal due to chef needing time off, staff seemed to have no idea what was happening. Only food available in the area was pizza at a hostel across the road. Breakfast room opened at 8:30 and consisted of help yourself Coco pops, croissants or toast, if you had an early start, nothing. Overall a very poor experience.”

”We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat. We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!) All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast”
