”You don't absolutely need a car for Howzit Maui, but it's really helpful. The hostel arranges daily tours and activities, but if you don't make it onto the sign up sheet, then you need to make your own arrangements. There are plenty of people who have car rentals, so making alternate plans isn't a big deal. There are six shared bathrooms (with showers) and a seventh just for women. ”We had a studio w/ ocean view. Having full kitchen and washer+dryer worked out well for us, having two children with two adults. Kitchen has all full-size appliances, side by side fridge has icemaker. Room also has washer and dryer. Hotel has very nice and helpful staff, service works well. ”Was a first time in Maui and in this hotel. Got an upgrade to a studio with a kitchen and a balcony. The room was awesome and super clean and comfortable! All the neccessary kitchen supplies to make breakfast, lunch ot whatever. Microwave, stove, oven, large fridge and freezer. The bed was excellent to sleep in. Facility and service falling apart
"A very underwhelming experience. A property whose glory days are behind it. We got a message a few days in advance that the air conditioning will be out of order until June. Not a big deal, but it left a sour taste that the attendant in check-in told us "I just heard that the air conditioniong in your room is out of order". Later we found out that also the laundry room and the gym were out of order as they had experienced a fire of the electricity system. Lack of transperency is disappointing. We stayed 4 nights, and were told there would be cleaning service only every 3 days. After 3 nights the room was not done. I asked about it and the attendant promised to have it done. No-one ever came and no-one ever said anything about it. When I checked out I mentioned it and the answer was literally a shrug. No-one seems to care about anything. I´ve been trying to think of something positive to say. Let´s go with that the butterfish in the restaurant was tasty."
