I recently stayed at the Fairmont Makkah in a Fairmont Gold Junior Suite, and while the location and the room itself were lovely, the service left a lot to be desired. Despite requesting an early check-in, we ended up waiting around two and a half hours before getting access to our room. The dedicated Gold lounge was under renovation, and the temporary reception area had issues with air conditioning. While the staff was polite, they werenât very accommodating.
In-room dining was another disappointment. Our dinner arrived late and incorrect, and when we tried to contact the staff to fix the order, we received no prompt response. Although they promised to send the missing items, nothing ever arrived, and there was no follow-up or apology.
When we checked out, the Gold lounge was finally open, but we faced difficulties getting a refund for the incorrect charges. The process was slow, and despite leaving my account details, I still havenât received the refund hours later. While the food was delicious, the service experience was far from what I expected from a hotel of this caliber. Sadly, I donât think I will repeat my stay in the future.
