I wish I would have read the other reviews more closely before staying at this hotel. The 300 year old building has a ton of charm and character, but does not live up to its potential and is in need of some updating. Upon reservation, I requested early check-in, which I would have happily paid extra for. I arrived around 11:45 am was told to come back 1:00/1:30. I came back at 1:30 and was told to come back at 3:30, 30 minutes after normal check-in time. While the other staff were 10/10, the front desk staff is 0/10. I think it is a requirement to have zero people skills to get that position.
My biggest complaint is the noise. From inside the room you can hear everything in the hallways and movement from the floor above. Outside in the plaza is extremely noisy, with people blowing horns all day long and shouting selling things. On my last night I had to wake early to catch a flight leading to a day of work meetings, and the noise didn’t settle until after 1am. The front desk staff had zero empathy and said there was nothing they could do. There is also no AC, and it was too loud outside to open the balcony doors.
