”Our stay was for a couple of days to attend a Wedding in Winchester. St John’s Croft is ideally placed within 5 minutes easy walk of the town centre, with on site parking at the property. The property is a lovely grand farmhouse, in a very quiet raised spot, considering how close it is to everything. The property has a lovey, relaxed, arty/boho feel to it, with a warm atmosphere. ”It's such a shame! The building of the old Mercure hotel holds ok. The double room was spacious, clean, comfortable and with an amazing close view of the Winchester cathedral (practically over its grounds). But there was no milk for the tea in the room and the television did not show a single BBC channel (not even radio stations), had no access to satelite, internet or cable. When I called reception to ask if perhaps there was something I was not doing properly with the remote control, I was...

”There was a coffee stain by the machine in my bedroom, which spoke of a certain lack of attention to detail in cleaning the room. Otherwise the room was clean and very comfortable, the shower room, towels and toiletries first rate. The staff were friendly and helpful.”

”The hotel is beautiful, the staff friendly and efficient, the food was freshly cooked, hot and tasty although the chips too greasy for me, I thoroughly enjoyed the hake, The room was very clean but unfortunately I struggled to sleep in the heat with no air conditioning or even a fan”

”Cheap and cheerful (staff). Room was clean, basic, bed was comfy. Serves it's purpose but at £50 for the night I've stayed in far worse. Would consider again. Limited food from a Service Station but to save a 3 hour drive in the morning it helped massively. ”
