    For those needing a bit more room, consider our adjacent two-bedroom cottage, "The Dune Bug" (K1307B), which offers additional space for your family or group.

    One of the best parts of staying at "The Way We Were" is its unbeatable location. Tortuga's, a local favorite, is conveniently located right across the street, offering a taste of the area's best cuisine. Just a short stroll, less than 600 yards south, you'll find the Nags Head Pier, a beloved spot for fishing and dining. The pier's restaurant serves up delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a stunning ocean view.

Great stay in Nags Head!

The Way We Were was cozy and comfortable in an unbeatable location! The dune deck was ideal for morning sunrise coffee and dolphin viewing. Beachfront was perfect for beach walks and swimming. Even in rain or bright sun, we enjoyed being out on the covered wraparound deck.

Best Location on the Beach!

This was such a great place to stay. We were perfectly placed in the heart of Nags Head. The rooms were perfect with comfortable beds. The kitchen was well stocked. We cooked at home several nights. There are two grills, one charcoal, one gas. We are definitely booking again. (Also a brief walk to Tortugas and Lucky 12) also just down from the Nags Head Pier that has a great breakfast.

Location was great! The layout was funky. One bedroom was accessible only from the deck and was super small. The upstairs had only one bathroom for 3 bedrooms and it was a Jack and Jill off the master. And it was tiny.

Beautiful house. Amazing beach access.First floor ocean views are blocked by dunes. Communication with property management was nonexistant. Grill ran out of propane. No response via phone or text for 24 hours.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a fantastic location and quaint home. It was impeccably clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit smaller than we expected and the upstairs tiny bathroom would be challenging to share with two adult couples. We enjoyed being able to walk to dinner and ice cream. The deck on the dune was a great spot to watch sunrise, though beware of the steep sandy decline to the beach if anyone in your family has mobility issues. Beach chairs and rocking chairs were a nice touch.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a good stay despite the weather. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. It's an older cottage, but very well kept and nice on the inside. There is no tub, only showers so keep that in mind, also the 4th bedroom is off the front of the house and is totally separate with a separate entrance. It is advertised that you get to go to the YMCA, which is true but when we called, free swim was from like 4:00 pm to 6:00 or so--just stating that so you won't think you can go any time and that's an option if it is raining. We were disappointed to learn that as we had 2 little ones with us. Overall it's a good home, good location and I would certainly stay there again!
