Great place to stay! Rooms were great, comfortable beds, great water pressure, dog friendly!! Great and friendly staff!! Beautiful place to stay!! Complimentary candy closet!!!!

Classy, modern, historical B&B
We enjoyed our stay in this historical, quaint bed and breakfast. Accommodations, complimentary wine service, and breakfast were very satisfying. I will stay there again.

We were in Montclair to surprise friends at their yearly Christmas party that we can’t usually fit in during this busy season. However, this year I was determined and I looked up their address and picked the closet hotel and I think I found my forever hotel when visiting them. Entering the beautiful building full of calming and seasonal decor that warmed my soul in the Holiday season. The small touch of ringing the door bell and having someone actually greet us in person with a smile and warmth. We were shown the wine bar/ drawing room and given and our room info at registration. We were lucky enough to be staying in the Robin room, wonderful size and interesting design with all the photos. The bed was like a King size marshmallow. All the amenities we needed including an iron brought to our room. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be back again , oh I shouldn’t forget about the secret candy closet!

This is a nice, unique, quaint property. It's clean and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. It's quiet and clean. The rooms are quirky with their names and just the right size. Check-in is a breeze. I'd come back in the future in a heartbeat. One of the best hotels I've been too.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The warm cookies were amazing. The breakfast served looked delicious though I was too full to ever eat. But the fresh juices were top notch. The room was clean, spacious, and so easy to park to get situated with luggage. The hair dryers…bombdiggity. Plenty of towels were provided. The cable Station selection on TV was robust also.

Just about perfect for us. Allowed us to recover from jet lag, in a clean, quiet and comfortable space. Staff was very nice and polite. Perfect location for us.

Cozy retreat
We—two humans and a retriever—always feel so comfortable staying at the George! The social hour with wine and head rubs is a highlight. Breakfast is light but varied and delicious. Beds are comfortable; fireplaces are a big benefit.

The property was beautiful and everyone we talked with said how great it was and that they come back time after time. My only issue is the value of the sheets and bedding. They crinkle due to lack of softness. We were in the very large family room on the 4th floor. We had two bed across the room from each other. However, all night we heard the other bedmates move with the sheets wrinkling like paper. One would think that for the price, the quality of the bedding would have been better. The guest service gentlemen we saw both days was very nice, welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast was a bit basic and offered nothing for someone with a gluten allergy. I might think about staying because of the convenient location, however for the price I might pick the residence inn down the street.

Wonderful experience at The George!
The George is a true luxury boutique hotel perfectly located in Montclair, NJ with easy access to Newark, NYC, and other areas throughout northern NJ. The lobby is beautifully inviting with a living room area and fireplace, honor bar, and a variety of snacks. The staff are extremely pleasant and professional. Rooms are exceptionally clean and well appointed, and interestingly/appropriately decorated. Each room has a touch screen tablet to access room, hotel, and area information and other reading material. The bathroom was clean with very nice soaps and shampoos. Most importantly the shower was hot with more than adequate water pressure! Lastly comfortable pillows and quilts on the bed promoted a good nights sleep. I highly recommend this hotel!

Delightful and convenient location.
What a fabulous place to stay near downtown Montclair! When the owners remodeled an old rooming house mansion, they considered every modern convenience! It’s extremely clean and comfortable, chill and modern. The rooms all have names instead of numbers, very quiet AC and breakfast is a delight. Will definitely stay again.

Delightful Saturday at the George
This was the perfect spot for a ladies night! The historic building is absolutely stunning with modern amenities. We had tickets for a show in the city, and were able to get there and back without any fuss. In the future, whether it's spending time in Montclair or back in Manhattan, I won't hesitate to book the George.

Unique Boutique Hotel
Very clean. Office staff—very accommodating. Nice selection of foods at the breakfast. Complimentary ice cream and candy—sweet addition. No hooks for a towel near the shower—a negative. A regular coffee maker with creamer and sugar would have been appreciated.

How many hotels which purport to be high end give you a room with no closet and no drawers? None in our extensive travel experience in the US and abroad. Fortunately, we got our room changed when we complained but it was not done graciously or with apologies. We were initially told that it was true of all room but somehow there was one that did have both! Not that the new room was without fault…. Like an AC system that had to be turned on to “cool” by the front desk and didn’t cool the room adequately. Like no sugar or stirrer with the Nespresso coffee maker- “Oh, you go to the basement breakfast area and bring them to your room”. In general, the staff was barely engaging. Never saw a smile or made to feel welcome.
