”I was quite disappointed with this accommodation. We were greeted by someone that spoke no english which was quite uneasy seeing as how we just arrived on the island at 6pm (sunset) and wanted to familiarize ourselves with the space. Instead as the sun went down, we were greeted by a guy with a flashlight which seemed to be telling us he was the night guard and told us to yell his name if we heard anything. ”We (mother 60, son 23) came to El Castillo to experience Rio San Juan. The hotel is perfectly situated next to the "harbor" but hidden in a garden. Wonderful sight to the river both from the room and the restaurant.Large room with terrace, all furniture and details made of bamboo. Food not excellent, good drinks. The town consists of two streets. Have dollars for excursions - no ATM!”

”Finca Ometepe is tucked up against the Volcano Madera about 2km past the town of Balgue. They have many fruit trees, fresh eggs, and even homemade goat cheese when we stayed there. The casita kitchen is well equipped. We were warmly welcomed and really enjoyed our stay here.”
