The external appearance of the property put my husband and me in mind of the "Crossroads Motel", an old TV show which I remember with fondness, but was often subject to ridicule! This should not put guests off as there is a lot of light and space in the building.
We opted out of breakfast as we like to explore the local area first thing. However, we did have dinner on the first night and it was lovely and good value for money too. Our waiter Rico was both prodessional and friendly and knowledgeable about the menu; a rare find in hotel dining rooms nowadays.
The room itself was a little more pleasant than the average Holiday Inn bedroom because the windows are larger and can be opened. A lovely clean bathroom, though without a plug in the tub and was clearly unable to support one, I wondered how anyone wanting to,could actually take a bath. However, the shower was good though the controls have to be handled carefully.
I was a little disappointed with the television. The temote control had gone missing and the replacement that a staff member brought was hard to use, possibly requiring new batteries, or possibly barely compatible.
The safe in the room did not work. This was not disastrous for us, but perhaps, since it appeared to be known by all the front of house staff, it should have been pointed out during check in.
Excellent staff service.The test is not when things work perfectly, but rather how the staff deal with issues as they arise. The telephone was very useful!
