Great cottage
Great cottage with everything you need for a relaxing holiday.Very clean and a great centre for exploring Rutland and surrounding area.The village is very picturesque with the pub just around the corner.This was our second visit and maybe stay for a third time in the future.

Lovely, relaxing and well-equipped
We spent a very enjoyable few days in this lovely property in Rutland. Very well set up, gorgeous area, and Lynn and Alan were so welcoming and helpful. Would love to go back if we ever visit the UK again.

Absolutely lovely
The cottage was homely and very comfortable. Good instructions for entry and a lovely welcome letter explaining all we needed to know. The cottage was immaculate. Beds very comfortable and all the facilities you need. Lots of handy leaflets about where to visit and local eateries. We highly recommend the pub around the corner, the food is great and the welcome warm and friendly, even a quiz on Thursday night.

Just the ticket!

The bungalow is well appointed, clean and comfortable. The owners are friendly and helpful. The only downside is no off-street parking, but this is not usually a problem. The road and pub nearby are not noisy. The shop is very handy too.

From the day I made the reservation, I was kept informed about our stay. I inquired about trains and got a prompt response. The cottage was beautifully furnished, very clean and suited our purposes perfectly. I would definitely recommend this cottage and if I got the opportunity, I would visit again!

Advise summer use only
The property was lovely, it had everything you need and was well equipped. However only supplied with one towel each so had no option but to put the washer on. As the property was very cold, this made it difficult to dry the washing. We asked for the heating to be turned up but we’re told to put a jumper on and I was told to wrap my husband in an electric blanket! It was just unacceptable for us so we had to leave mid week and come home to a warm house. Would be great to stay in the summer!

Thank you for your initial comments about The Old Post Office. We are sorry you found you needed to leave early but in response would say that there were 4 towels provided in the airing cupboard (of which you only used 2) and that the heating was programmed to be on from 6.30am to 10.30pm at a constant temperature of 20°C. We know this was working correctly. The weather for the week you were staying in November was unseasonably mild - breaking records in fact – and our previous guests have reported the property as being warm and cosy.

Lovely relaxing long weekend
This is such a lovely place to stay. Has everything you need, very clean and everyone is super friendly. Highly recommend the pub for food or a nice relaxing drink. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Lovely clean cottage next to the village shop and pub. The village was very pretty and had a playground a 10 minute walk away. Also a great base for Rutland Water. Would definitely recommend this property.

Cottage was even better than described online - everything you could need, comfortable beds and absolutely picturesque setting plus parking outside was very easy. Very peaceful and friendly village with easy access to beautiful Stamford and Rutland Water.

A very clean, bright and homely cottage equipped with everything we needed. The cottage is in a pretty village with a well stocked community shop and a pub serving good food. We were very impressed with everything.

We very much enjoyed staying at The Old Post Office. The cottage was well-fitted out with an attention to detail that made our stay comfortable and relaxing. The property owners were friendly and helpful. We hope we might find an opportunity to stay there again soon!

Marvelous Village Visit with Many Friendly People
Rooms were comfortable and well appointed. (But kitchen needs actually sharpened knives and the TV remote is antiquated.) Exterior is attractive and there is a lovely outdoor sitting area. Close proximity to shop, pub, and church was a plus. Very friendly neighbors and villagers as a whole. -- we met nearly two dozen. Lynn and Alan were welcoming but unobtrusive hosts. Lynn's shortbread is amazing! The Old Post Office is a great place to experience village life and we have no hesitation in giving it our highest recommendation.

Perfect in every way
The “Old Post Office” was the perfect cosy hideaway for anyone thinking of staying in the area. My wife & I stayed in Lynn & Alan’s beautiful property after my wife was discharged from hospital - it had absolutely everything we needed for rest & healing to take place. Market Overton is a lovely village with plenty of nice flat areas to walk & explore. The community shop next door had everything you would need & the food from the local pub, “The Black Bull” was delicious. We would highly recommend “The Old Post Office” to anyone thinking of staying in the area.

Post Lockdown getaway
What a fabulous property ,clean warm and in a wonderful Rutland Village setting and pub on the corner and only 10 minutes drive from County Town of Oakham .. Absolutely fantastic stay from beginning to end . The owners were warm and welcoming and very helpful. Will definitely be back.

Second great stay
The Old Post Office is very well looked after by Alan and Lynn, who are the most friendly of hosts. It is clean and comfortable situated in a lovely village with a well stocked community shop next door and a welcoming pub serving good meals around the corner. Plenty of good walks in area and lovely cycling lanes.

Idyllic
We had a lovely short break in this scrupulously clean, very pretty cottage in a very picturesque village. The owners were very warm, friendly and welcoming. We found, upon our arrival, a bottle of milk, tea, sugar and coffee and a beautifully gift wrapped selection of delicious hand made chocolates. Fresh flowers on the table were another thoughtful touch. We could not have asked for more and would be happy to recommend it to anyone.

The Old Post Office was ideally situated 6 miles from both Oakham and Rutland Water. We used it as a base to explore the area and to walk. The house was very comfortable and was furnished with all the necessary amenities you would need particularly in the kitchen.

Great break
My wife and I had a really relaxing stay here with our eleven year old grandson. We spent mornings round Rutland Water and afternoons at the cottage, chilling, and then eating. Also found excellent Fish and Chips at the next village, in Cottesmore.

MOST ENJOYABLE
We found the Cottage very neat and tidy.Easy to get around and just a nice size, nice garden with plenty of bird life, Finches by the dozen. Owners were absolutely brilliant, gave area information, places to go and visit they both shared their local knowledge, lovely couple. The Cottage next to village shop round the corner from the local pub, what more could you ask.We would certainly return.

Lovely, clean property in a lovely location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The property had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was well equipped, comfy beds and a choice of lights in the bedroom with bunk beds, perfect for little ones not so sure of the dark. The property was very clean with hand sanitiser and hand wash available. The location is great with lots to explore in the surrounding area. Overall a great weekend away. Thank you.

Market Overton is a very pretty village and the Old Post Office is a great base for exploring Rutland Water, Barnsdale, Oakham, Stamford etc. The cottage is really well equipped and with a spacious kitchen/dining area which has access to a lovely seating area overlooking the owner's garden. Lynn and Alan are lovely hosts without being intrusive. The pub just round the corner is a real bonus - we ate there twice and had great food. A great stay, particularly for softy cyclists like us!
