Fantastic stay
Lots of room and comfortable stay. Many bathrooms and a secluded suntrap garden. Well positioned to enjoy all of the sights and beaches of the local area. Lots of walks along the coastal path. Had a great time.

Two Couples on Vacation
The location was great for seeing the local sites. The home was comfortable, but needed some attention for improving cleanliness (upstairs, closets and bathrooms) (mold in bathroom and closets).

We take the cleanliness very seriously and immediately made a careful inspection of the bathrooms and closets. We found several small spots of mould, which were dealt with very swiftly, thank you for drawing our attention to this issue. We will also pass your comments to the professional cleaning company that we use to clean the cottage between the guests' stays.

Just spent a week at Rooks Retreat and enjoyed it , house has all your needs clean and comfortable, plenty of very nice beaches short distance away worth a visit .

Comfortable house for exploring Pembrokeshire
The property is clean, comfortable and well-equipped. It was convenient for beautiful cliff walks, swimming at the lovely beaches and visiting gardens. The enclosed garden was ideal for the dog but needs weeding.

Lovely large and spacious cottage with more than enough room for us, our 17 and 9 year old plus dog. Quiet area with everything within an easy distance. We had a great time!

Relaxing Christmas Getaway
Lovely cottage, very homely, and the extra touches made you feel very welcome. Downstairs bedroom with ensuite ideal for guests with mobility issues. Great to have extra bathrooms! Would definitely recommend and hope to return soon. Murphy our labrador loved exploring the enclosed garden. Ideal base for exploring that area of Pembrokeshire.

Wonderful Property
This was our second stay at Rooks Retreat & we love it. The cottage is well furnished & has everything you need. The location is great for exploring this part of Pembrokeshire and there is a lovely 30 min walk up to the beach. The host is extremely helpful & responsive. Definitely recommend a stay here.

Rooks retreat
Had to spend an hour hoovering up dust and spider webs when we got there. General dirt around shower cubicles (round bottom of door hinges etc), bottom of tap etc. Bungalow badly laid out to include extra rooms i.e. extended bedroom 1 into garage with ensuite which again was not very clean. The floor had been painted over in certain areas and again was not clean in the grouted areas. Kitchen/diner size wise was OK but lounge area was small. Upstairs bedroom 3 was good size with two 3 quarter beds. Bedroom 4 was small with single bed and bedroom 2 with ensuite had king size bed but the angle of the roof caused a height problem. Bathroom door had 1 inch gap between doors, bad crack in the sink and wardrobe/cupboard was very small, Although it says shower over bath, again with the height of the ceiling this caused a problem especially for OAPS. Paths outside were uneven and trip hazards.

Thank you for taking time to write a review. I am sorry that you were not satisfied with how clean the property is. We are using a professional cleaning company and usually the guests are satisfied. We will pass your comments to the company. The size of the beds in the bedroom with two beds are actually double beds, not 3/4 as you stated. The photos show clearly that the ceiling is sloping in the upstairs bedrooms. There is a full height shower in two out of the three bathrooms.

Lots of thoughtful touches. Didn't want for anything. Clear instructions on use of appliances and access to property. Great to have a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher machine available. Fresh air, quiet but central to lots of wonderful beaches and towns. Great comfortable place for relaxation.

Wonderful
Rooks Retreat is a little gem. We stayed for 8 nights and loved every minute. Ideally located for exploring this beautiful corner of Wales. The cottage is well equipped, spacious & the secure garden rear garden great for our dog. Julia was great with communication. We are hoping to go back next year.

A really homely break
A lovely comfy property, home from home close too all amenities, lamphey hall restaurant the perfect place to dine. The owner is lovely we got on so well that she is gonna notify us when letting returns in spring… cannot wait to go back, the rooks were amazing and kept us occupied for ages when sat in back garden , overall a lovely experience we did have a little hiccup our teacup yorkie went missing for 8 hrs but home safe now , so a big thank you Julia x

Lovely Break
The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for a week away, our dog loved the secure garden. The local beach was amazing and the host was very helpful. Our only difficulty was space in the lounge as we could not all sit comfortably together. Overall though a great holiday.

We agree that some elements of the cottage need upgrading, which we started doing already this spring: for example, a new cooker and a new microwave were installed in the kitchen in addition to other small upgrades. We’ll continue making these upgrades. As you noted, the cottage is priced very competitively.

Fabulous stay and great location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we loved the cottage. The secure garden was great for our dogs and the peaceful location was perfect. We had great communications when booking with checking out all the covid restrictions in England and Wales. Julia was great when we were sorting out the booking and liking after anything we needed.

Comfort and cosiness
A very clean little cottage with everything that you could possibly need. Top quality bed linen and towels provided. We enjoyed our stay here, slept well and had an excellent location for exploring this part of a beautiful coastline. Only niggle I would have is the positioning of the bathrooms; not clear in the description. That did become a problem for some of our group. Otherwise, I'd happily return again! Thank you for providing a comfy, cosy and welcoming cottage.

Lovely quiet place

Very clean and spacious. Great facilities for my dad who is disabled in a pretty house.
Close enough to best bits of Pembroke but away from the crowds. Would stay again.

Disappointing
We chose this property because it ticked all of our boxes. Previous reviews were good, although we now realise were a few years old. The house is in a great location, with easy access to the lovely local area, yet tucked away in a nice quiet road. We enjoyed the peace & quiet & had we like the house a little more we'd probably have spent more time in it. The house is best described as 'in need of some TLC', everything is looking a little tired & worn & it's furnished in an eclectic mix of furniture which doesn't really warrant the term 'Stylish' as advertised. The property is currently on the market & the owners don't live locally which probably explains things. There were also lots of silly little niggles of things which needed attention like dead light bulbs (6), non-working extractor fan, broken bins, outside light broken, smoke alarm not working, loose floor boards. All little things but add up to make you feel a bit fed up. The layout is great, if a little cosy in the living area. The downstairs bedroom with en-suite was perfect for my elderly mum. Upstairs the 3 bedrooms are fine & the beds really comfortable. You should note that the only upstairs bathroom/wc is off the main bedroom which can be a pain. The kitchen is a decent size & pretty well-equipped. That said, like the furniture, it's a mish-mash of non-matching stuff that feels like it's all a bit 2nd hand with stained mugs etc. It's not the end of the world but doesn't make it feel particularly 'lovely'. We were also surprised not to find an oven glove & ended up having to go out & buy one which was a pain. We could have done without the dishwasher flooding the kitchen floor the 1st time we used it & the 45 mins it took to mop everything up. The plumbing under the sink was poorly done & it looked like the pipes had popped out when the cleaner had put her things back in the cupboard. We pushed it back together & reported to the owners who were most apologetic & promised to get it fixed but we have no idea if this happened during our stay as we didn't hear anything more. The garden could be really lovely but was in need of a good tidy up or at least the grass cutting & big stinging nettles removed. There was also a huge pile of rubbish sacks, attracting flies, which didn’t make sitting out particularly attractive. No need to clean the dirty garden furniture. All in all a disappointing experience given the price paid. We will certainly return to the area but not to Rooks Retreat

We take all reviews into consideration and thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you found the location of the property to your liking, peaceful and in a great location with a great layout, especially the downstairs en-suite with comfortable beds. With reference to the reported issues, the dishwasher outlet had become detached, despite being in place for a number of years, but was fixed by the cleaner, once it had been reported. The lawns are mown weekly and the weeding, whilst scheduled, was not completed in time for your stay due to the poor weather. Light bulbs and smoke alarm batteries were replaced, as soon as we had been notified: we will now include a weekly check, to ensure that they can be replaced promptly when required. We thank you for your custom and hope that the issues raised did not detract you from your stay in our wonderful part of Pembrokeshire.

A wonderful relaxing stay in a great location
The property was ideal for our short break, it had ample parking and was easy to find. Inside it had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire scenery as it was ideally situated near local beaches and attractions.
