Comfortable and good nights sleep.
I enjoyed our four night stay, in particular the bed was comfortable, everything worked, quiet so a good sleep, breakfast good too. The owner was friendly. There was a group of musicians just playing folk and other acoustic to each other on one night which was excellent. Locationis good too, in the middle of Pembroke, car parking at the rear (via the Parade). Initial impression was not great as it felt like stepping back in time and some decor was tired inside and out The service was sometimes hesitant but don't let this deter you, they have got the basics right and it was reasonably priced. It certainly grew on me. Just do not expect 5*.

Disappointed
Hotel was poorly maintained with reports of no staff. Hotel was not as highly rated on your site and overpriced. Would not stay there again or recommend to others.

Honestly would not wish to stay again. The room was cramped. TV didn't work properly. Kettle didn't fit under the tap in the sink. Smelly, run down and personally a rip off. Pre-warning has live music and the floors aren't sound proofed. Put me off of Pembrokeshire

Would stay again
Well situated in the center of Pembroke. Onsite private, gated parking area. Family run business, clearly hard working people but delivered with a smile. Pre ordering breakfast (served 9 t0 10am) the day before won't suit everyone, but they have a system and it works Quality breakfast, well presented

A very pleasant stay in Pembroke. The hotel was wonderfully accommodating in allowing an early check in and a late check out. The location is convenient and walkable to various sites in the town. It is an older hotel with its furnishings, but was very clean and perfect as a base-point for doing some hiking in the area.

Comfortable room in a wonderful location!
Comfortable room, a real bargain and the breakfast was wonderful. The owner was lovely, really friendly and helpful. I was staying in a single, which would probably be snug if staying for a while/have loads of stuff, but for a few nights I'd strongly recommend (or book a larger room). Location is excellent, castle at the top of the street! Shops and restaurants all on the doorstep!

Das Zimmer und das Badezimmer waren etwas klein und wir hatten kaum Platz. Aber es war sauber. Das Frühstück war einfach mit Toast und Marmelade und auf Anfrage mit Eiern und Käse.

Friendly Place to Stay
Quiet and pleasant stay. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was great! The free parking was very beneficial since we arrived by car. We would recommend this establishment for anyone who is looking to stay in the area.

Warm and welcoming
This small hotel was very good value for money. The owner was really helpful and we were warmly welcomed and looked after. Obviously it was a place in need of investment but everything was clean and fresh and the rooms were comfortable. For a two and a half star, it was great. I would recommend it for its value for money and friendliness.

Fantastically placed hotel for Pembroke. Walking distance to train station, bus stops and castle. Staff were wonderful, couldn't do enough to help. Room was spacious and comfortable. Cooked breakfasts were good also. Would definitely recommend.

A good decision
Pembroke is a lovely town, and the Middlegate Hotel was ideal as a cheap and cheerful place to stay the night. Location was perfect - although on a main road through the town it was very quiet, and only a short walk to the castle and other attractions. There is a bar and a cafe (where breakfast is served) on the ground floor, so all needs are catered for. There was a TV and common room, although i watched the TV in my room. The hotel owner was great, couldn't do enough for his guests

Good stay
I was worrying about this hotel before I stayed there becasue I'd read lots of negative reviews. But the hotel was nice! I stayed in a single room which was same with the photos. The room and bathroom were clean, bed was comfortable, TV worked well. The breakfast was also great and owner's family was very kind! I was satisfied with my stay :)

The triple room we stayed is 95 pounds a night when we book online and the host charged us 5 more for using credit card. The room is packed and there's no space to put the luggages at all. But we get it that it's not super expensive, we just deal with it. The place is clean except the old and almost falling dressers looks dangerous and smells a bit.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Really poor all round and hugely in need of renovating from top to bottom. The load live music didn't help either.

Wir sind vor dem geschlossenen Hotel gestanden, man musste eine Telefonnummer die an der Türe war anrufen. Der Anruf wurde zwar nicht entgegen genommen, jedoch erschien eine Dame und hat uns freundlich empfangen. Sie hat uns alles erklärt und auch dass Zimmer gezeigt. Das Zimmer war in guten, sauberen Zustand. Das Bad ist ein wenig eng, aber dass kennt ja man auf den Inseln schon. Das Hotel ist über einem Pub, Montags mit Live Band bis 23 Uhr. Somit ist für Unterhaltung gesorgt. Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich und redet mit den seinen Gästen, hat uns noch ein paar Tipps gegeben. Frühstück ist auch völlig ok. Wir werden, wenn es sich ergibt wieder hier Übernachten.

Very run down and grotty
The hotel was rated a 2 star. this is grossly overstated and wonder how it obtained this rating. The place was run down and grotty. I was shocked by the condition of the place. the room was cold. The beds were damp. The wallpaper was torn. The doors etc badly needed painting. The decor was shabby and not in good condition. We could not stay and did not get a refund.

A basic hotel which is well positioned in the centre of the main street of Pembroke. Breakfast is included in the price and the area is quiet although there can be some noise from adjoining rooms. If you just want a well priced room for the night in a good location, then it ticks the boxes.

An excellent welcome and friendly service!
The hotel building is a little tired but this was obvious at the time of booking. The welcome we received was exceptional and the family running the hotel could not have been more helpful or accommodating. The room was clean The breakfast was excellent!

All of our food is sourced from the highest quality suppliers around, combined with knowledgeable cooks we ensure every meal that goes out of our kitchen is of the highest standard. We are constantly working in the hotel to make sure it is of the highest standard and have recently replaced all bed linen throughout the whole hotel, and arranged for new carpets to be fitted within the week. one night for business travel good location on high street but very tired room
Hi, thank you for taking the time to write a review. The hotel is in the middle of Pembroke and combined with our secure car-park, I believe it is one of the best locations for easy access to everything Pembrokeshire has to offer. We are constantly upgrading and updating the hotel, recently we have renewed all hotel bedding and are currently in the process of installing new tiles and carpet in a number of areas. I hope you enjoyed your time in Pembroke and hope you will try us again in any subsequent visits to Pembroke. Best wishes, Kyle C
