”The hotel is well placed to explore the area. The room was comfortable, clean and great for the 2 nights we stayed. The bar was cosy with the wood burner on, breakfast set you up for the day and dinner was tasty and substantial 😁 The staff were friendly and helpful; we would stay again”

”Warm welcome and amazing, helpful staff team. Lovely clean rooms and great water pressure. Buffet style cooked breakfast was only thing that was not 100% ... one day it was all pretty dried under the lights, although the next stay it was much busier and breakfast was fresher as turnaround of stock was faster. We ate one night in the restaurant and the food was good but a little pricy, although expected for a hotel restaurant. We would definitely stay again if in the area.”

”On the whole there wasn't anything that we didn't like about our stay. We had a superior room which was very spacious. We couldn't fault the cleanliness of the room, bar/lounge area or the restaurant. The breakfast and dinner menus were v.good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. These are my honest accounts. My only regret is that we did not find the time to use the pool or sauna. However they do serve a lovely pale ale at the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.”

”We had cabin 1 and it was great. Hot tub, wood, everything was lovely and well thought out. Everything you need was there”

”We used the Hare & hounds as a stopover on our way home but will give serious consideration to returning to explore the Lakes from there”

”The property was was pretty much as expected, The room was clean and big. The issue we had was there did not seem to be sufficent sound deading between the rooms, as we could hear voices from other rooms. Could not hear what they were saying, but could near the noise. Luckily they went to bed about the same time we did and did not wake up before we did, but it not what we wanted or expected. It was in a very isolated location. That was not a problem for us, but something to be aware of. ...

”Erittäin avulias henkilökunta. Järjestivät parkkipaikan 4 moottoripyörälle sisäpihalta. Loistava aamiainen. Pubista sai maittavan illallisen pubivisan kera.”

”Friendly staff, large rooms, great choice at breakfast all freshly cooked. Will visit again!”

”The property has real presence and looks stunning. Its decor is in keeping with the property and looks a bit worn but makes it feel loved. Breakfast was good but we had to wait both days for the food to be topped up as there’s only one waiter trying to do everything. The room was large and bed was comfy. The bathroom was not good no water pressure so water came out very slowly and not very hot. Shower unit was very noisy and no heating for such a big bathroom apart from a towel rail so it was...

”Our room in the coach house was compact but was very clean, had everything we needed and overall satisfactory. Our room faced the main road so lots of traffic noise. The shower room window had clear glass & faced the car park with only a blind for privacy. Last time we stayed we were in a larger quieter Lapwing room which for us was better. Breakfast was very good food & service. All staff attentive, willing & helpful. Would stay again but aim for Lapwing upgrade.”

”Nice, Big Room! Beautiful Decorated House. Helpful and Friendly staff.”

”Lovely old building, well located and enough parking at the back of hotel in side street. Comfortable bed, room was well maintained, especially the bathroom. Room was spacious enough for one person.”

”Exceptional stay! Beautiful breakfast, great location and very clean! Would highly recommend.”

”Me and my friends were really looking forward to this weekend away, was very disappointed that first they toke my money from my card when it was pay at property I had to call to find out why? The breakfast food some was finished so we didn’t get some of the things the toaster was broken you had to keep waiting for cups, the surna was broken so was the jacuzzi, the person that makes the room didn’t even bother to re do the room. They tried to change be again for the massage when check out even...

”Beautiful property out of the bustle of nearby Ambleside or Hawkshead. Lovingly cared for and staffed. Gorgeous views, delicious breakfast and dinner, and a hot shower. Hikes out the door. 5 minute walk to Beatrix Potter's home at Hill Top. We hope to return.”

”Very helpfull and friendly staff especially Morgan and Megan. Room clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. Excellent views of Lake Windermere. Food was delicious with superb gluten free options”
