Very relaxing stay, perfect for a couple’s retreat. There are plenty of vineyards, hiking, and horseback riding if you’re looking for something to do. We just unwound and relaxed by the pool most of the time. There is a shady gazebo right next to the pool, perfect for reading or having drinks. The view is spectacular. The jacuzzi is very relaxing. Tons of delicious restaurants nearby. Maud is a very gracious and accommodating hostess. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I booked the Monet Suite for a wedding in nearby Purcellville, VA. We are experienced travelers in our 50s and 60s. Unfortunately, this was one of our worst lodging experiences. From the moment we arrived, we felt like unwelcome intruders. After following the host's detailed parking and arrival instructions, I entered through the designated front door and called out “hello!” Getting no response, I waited a few minutes and then briefly looked around for someone. The host appeared and immediately began berating me for violating a private area. I apologized and showed her the instructions I’d received, yet she continued with personal insults and even questioned my ability to read. Her suggestion that we go elsewhere signaled clearly that we were not welcome. We contacted Expedia and later VRBO for guidance, ultimately keeping our distance from the host to avoid further confrontation. We had two additional safety/security concerns. One dog (unleashed) was reactive toward strangers, charged at me on one occasion, and growled threateningly while guarding the house entrance on another. This is not the dog’s fault; it’s an owner-management issue and an unacceptable risk in a guesthouse. Also, our suite had no exterior lock or key access. There was no way to secure personal belongings, including jewelry brought for the wedding. To be fair, the location is beautiful, with lovely mountain views, but the scenery was marred by an antagonistic host and basic safety concerns.

My husband and I had a memorable stay at Villa Maud over New Year. Maud was a gracious host and we very much enjoyed the comforts of our honeymoon villa. Maud is a talented artist and her impressive work adorns the villa. One of the highlights was meeting Tim the donkey

Beautiful property! We loved the honeymoon suite and the views from balcony. Absolutely stunning. Tons of impressive artwork too. The host was very gracious and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Very kind and welcoming!

Wonderful Stay

This place was fantastic! Our room was great! Very large! There was a swimming pool that’s very secluded with a beautiful view. Wineries close by and the host was spectacular! We had a great breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend this place!

Ideal weekend getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Maud! The setting was quiet and incredibly picturesque (the views from the Monet Suite were gorgeous) and Maud was so communicative and helpful. We will definitely hope to stay there again when we are in the area.

Lovely property

We had a wonderful stay! Only regret is that two days was not enough! Will definitely be going back. The property is beautiful, very quiet and relaxing.

Anniversary joy

The Monet Suite was the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. Extremely spacious, beautifully decorated, luxurious, comfortable and clean, it enhanced the occasion of our anniversary wonderfully. Breakfast was phenomenal and the hostess without peer. We will return as often as we can.

The best getaway spot from DC

Me and my partner had one of the best getaway weekends. The Monet suite is beautiful and is everything you need to experience a beautiful romantic journey. Maud is great at communicating and helping you to have the best experience possible.

I wanted to stay foreveThe Monet Honeymoon Suite at Villa Maud is easily our favorite vacation rental in Virginia! We've visited many vacation rentals over the years but this is best by far!I wrote more but VRBO has character limits so I have to abridge:1st - Maud is your host, she lives on site on the main floor, the suite is on the opposite end of the 2nd floor. Maud interacts with you when you enter or leave the home or if you text. Don't be shy, she takes pride in being your host & is the best neighbor while also providing maximum privacy. That said if you want to chat Maud makes lovely conversation!2nd - the grounds are a mountain valley paradise. You can see forever in every direction with mountain views, beautiful skylines, & immaculately kept gardens providing beauty, variety & total privacy. The pool is beautiful & completely private. Skinny dipping & nude sun bathing is encouraged. We used the pool at all hours. Maude doesnt use chemicals but maintains the pool immaculately, cleaning daily. The water feels and smells soft & natural! Swallows & bats keep the annoying bugs away. Fireflies supplement the mood lighting to provide a magical escape!3. The Monet suite is large, has a very comfy King bed, nice TV, classy furniture & Maud's art is everywhere (she is a professional artist), a nice jacuzzi with astounding views, and a luxurious roman shower for 2. 4. Middleburg is a short drive away, great for art, antiquing, eating, wine tasting & socializing.

Owner involvement not pleasant

This my first experience at staying at an vrbo b/c all the other inns/hotels were booked in the area. Apparently I only booked for 2 people, which might of been an oversight on my part (definitely did not do on purpose) Maud let me know this when she counted my friends as we left the villa for dinner. While in the car exiting the driveway, Maud and friend confronted me with her phone showing me the booking for 2 not 3 guests on the vrbo website. I tried to explain to her that on my inquiry I had asked that there were 3 women and could she accommodate. She said that was just an inquiry, and she was calling vrbo. I said ok and off to dinner we went. While at dinner I received a text from Maud along with a vrbo invoice stating I owed an additional $45 which I pd while eating my dinner. While closing the curtains that night we encountered a roach, which we alerted Maud to in the following morning. Maud was kind enough to call us in morning to let us know we left a sweater behind. While picking up the sweater Maud told us there were no roaches out here. I felt harassed and belittled by Maud confronting me and her CNN hat offensive.

A beautiful home!

We had a bit of trouble checking in, but once we got in we were so impressed! The suite was clean, well prepared, and beautiful. It had amazing views of the property. I wish we had more time to stay there!! It’s clear the owner takes a lot of pride in this home.

Maud was so kind and welcoming. This location felt more like a true B&B! Beautiful views and pool, great bathroom, and a comfy bed!

Wonderful suite, delicious breakfast

Had a great stay with Maud, the Monet suite was expansive and with beautiful views from multiple rooms. Bathroom is massive and very luxurious. Lots of effort clearly goes into making guests comfortable, from the electronic candles in all the rooms, freshly washed plush rugs (nothing better than putting your footprints on a newly washed plushy rug), breakfast made to order where and when you want. Overall a great stay, and that's without mentioning the plethora of wineries it would take 3 weekends to see all of. We goofed on the check out time and Maud was very understanding, overall a 5 star experience

Romantic weekend away

We loved Villa Maud! We stayed in the huge Monet Suite. We had everything we needed and loved the pool which we were lucky enough to have all to ourselves 2 days in a row! We would absolutely stay again.

We stay with Maud in the Monet Suite for my 50th birthday weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful suite, gorgeous views and relaxing atmosphere.

Beautiful, peaceful retreat in Monet Suite

Purcellville is a beautiful area with tons of wineries and breweries. This property feels like it’s out in country but it’s not far from local restaurants and shops. The Monet Suite is big and gorgeous. The pool is awesome! Maud is very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend!

Nice and relaxing

Our stay in the Monet Suite was very nice. Maid was a gracious and accommodating host and has lots of knowledge of the area and things to do. The suite itself was much larger than we thought and very comfortable. The pool was just the thing after a day of hiking. Enjoyed the locals winery and breweries.

Romantic Weekend Getaway

What a lovely weekend! Maud, the suite is beautiful and the view from our bed as we woke up each morning was unbeatable. In addition to the well-appointed suite, we enjoyed the pool, the gardens, the quiet and your gracious hospitality. Thanks again for a great stay. We look forward to returning for another visit.

Highly Recommend

The suite offer a very romantic setting. Nothing like sitting in the jacuzzi watching the sunrise or sunset.. The owner is an awesome hostess. She's very attentive and make you feel welcome. The artwork is amazing. We'll be back!
