Summary:

This unique property opens to an unobstructed view of the Cretan sea and the mountains behind it. Days move easily between the old Venetian town and the quiet coves along the coast, and this is a green, peaceful part of the island where you can gather salad from the garden or fresh eggs from the yard. Everyday shops sit within walking distance, fast wireless internet runs throughout, and private parking waits on site.



The Space:

The property is on the first floor of Villa Zina and fills with light. The living area is warm and unhurried and the balcony just beyond keeps the sea and the mountains in view while you relax.

The kitchen is fully equipped and flows comfortably into the dining table, ready for everything from a quick breakfast to a long shared dinner. A filter coffee maker and a toaster sit among the things you reach for first, along with everything else you might need during your stay.

There are two bedrooms, each with a double bed. The proeprty is air-conditioned for warm afternoons and heats when the evenings turn cool. The bathroom has a deep bathtub for a slow soak at the end of the day.

A washing machine means you can pack light and stay longer, settling into the rhythm of the place rather than living out of a suitcase. Outside, the balcony and the shared garden are where the apartment really opens up, with the Cretan sea ahead, the hills behind, and a vegetable garden and a yard of fresh eggs that you are welcome to share.

The Neighborhood:

The property sits in Violi Haraki, a green residential stretch of countryside about three kilometres from the centre of Rethymno and close to the University of Crete. The land rolls gently toward the coast, with the Venetian Fortezza and the sea on one side and the slopes of the Psiloritis range on the other. It suits guests who want the calm of the countryside while staying close to town, where a well stocked supermarket, a bakery and a butcher are all within easy walking distance.

The long sandy main beach of Rethymno lies around four kilometres away, fully organised with sunbeds, water sports and beach bars. Gerani beach, a quiet cove with clear water good for snorkelling, is about six kilometres to the west. Platanias, a wide sandy stretch open to the north, sits roughly nine kilometres east. Episkopi, around eleven kilometres west, is a long shallow sandy bay popular for swimming and windsurfing, and neighbouring Petres, about twelve kilometres away, mixes sand and pebble in a calm setting.

Inland the landscape climbs toward Lake Kournas, the only freshwater lake on Crete, around twenty two kilometres away, and the springs of Argyroupoli close by at roughly twenty five kilometres.

For sights, the Venetian old town and the Fortezza of Rethymno are about three kilometres away, a quarter of narrow lanes and a working harbour. The Arkadi Monastery, a cultural and historical landmark of the island, stands around twenty three kilometres to the southeast, and the archaeological site and museum of Ancient Eleftherna lie roughly twenty five kilometres away. To the south, about thirty five kilometres away, the palm fringed beach and monastery of Preveli reward the drive.

This is a region built around food, wine and the sea. You can taste Cretan olive oil and wine, join a boat trip or water sports along the coast, walk the gorges, and eat well wherever you go. An ideal destination for nature lovers and those seeking authentic local experiences all year round.



Getting Around:

At 100 meters there is a bus stop to the Cretan villages and to the Main Bus Station or the city center.

There is private parking at the residence, exclusively for visitors.

Please note that an environment tax is payable upon arrival (8euros/night April through October, 2euros/night November through March) Jacuzzi heating for the months October through April is 20euros/day
