CAUTION- Read before booking
Tl;dr While host was communicative, the location was NOT prepared for guests & I recommend reaching out before booking to confirm that issues are resolved.
-Check-in details were not sent. I had to request them twice.
-Directions were a little confusing, so look at the map ahead of time.
-Host said WiFi would be fast enough for two people to work remotely, which was not true. Download 6 mbps and upload .85.
-Heat was off when we arrived, which meant 23 degree house & frozen pipes and toilet.
-No mat for the door despite snow/mud, so we got a towel.
-House can sleep two & maybe a child on the couch.
-Single heater downstairs, which was not enough to defrost the pipes. Host sent neighbor who was extremely helpful & set up a second heater to defrost the pipes. This happened to previous guests too.
-Water heater didn’t work, so no showers or laundry.
-Cracks in floor, ceiling, walls due to the unit being moved. Daylight visible between the roof & walls, and two holes forming in floor.
-Bathroom door doesn’t latch or provide full privacy, & closet door rolls open.
-Bed felt claustrophobic.
-Power goes out if heater & another appliance run at the same time.
-Puzzle QR codes didn’t work.
The host was quick to reply and refunded us the nightly rate, but we still ended up paying cleaning & other fees. If it hadn’t been dark and snowy when we arrived, we would have left. The location was stunning and the design was beautiful, & I hope repairs are made so future guests can enjoy it!
