We flew in to LAX on 22.12. evening and stayed one night in this hotel on our way to Las Vegas. The location of the hotel was good for this kind of a road trip.
We noticed that the room toilet was half clogged, not flushing well. We didn't report that in the night time as we didn't need anyone to fix it right away. We woke up early in the morning being the first ones on the breakfast. By that time we reported the toilet problem, using ourselves the restroom at the reception. Then we left the hotel.
By the time we left the room the toilet hadn't flooded on to the floor. Neither did we leave the towels on the floor. Much to my surprise I noticed some days afterwards that only $25 was returned of the $100 deposit to my credit card. I called the hotel to find out the reason for this and was considered naive for not understanding that we had to pay the towels that we had ruined by cleaning up the toilet floor with them. I was there, I know what the towels looked like when leaving the room. Don't know what happened after our leaving, but the customer was just automatically assumed to be guilty.
From my perspective the customer experience looks like this: Paid $75 extra for a room with an inconvenience in the room due to the toilet, spent time sorting this out afterwards, was basically considered a bit stupid and unreliable, not to mention all the bad mood this caused. By no means an experience worth the money. Would rather use another hotel next door.
