About 20 meters away is a park with benches and a playground. Santa Giusta is known for: its Basilica, a jewel of Romanesque architecture and a majestic building from the first half of the 12th century; its pond and its fish stocks: mullet, sea bream, sea bass, eels, clams, and crabs; for Abarossa Beach, which is barrier-free—a long stretch of sandy shore with shallow, sandy waters and free parking. Continuing north, we find the following coastal areas: Torregrande, 10 km away; San Giovanni di Sinis, 20 km away, known not only for its splendid sea but also for the ancient city of Tharros, a Punic-Roman city founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BC; nearby are the village of Funtana Meiga and Turr’e Seu, a natural oasis. Further along the coast are other beaches with white quartz sand: “Maimoni,” “IS Aruttas,” “Mari Ermi,” “Portu Suedda,” “S’Arena Scoada,” “Putzuidu,” “Mandriola,” and “Santa Caterina.” In the nearby town of Cabras, near the fish pond, you can find fresh fish caught directly from the pond of the same name, as well as the museum housing the Monte ’e Prama statues.
