Location: Los Gigantes is a resort town in the Santiago del Teide municipality on the west coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Its main features are the giant rock formations, the Acantilados de Los Gigantes, which rise from the sea to a height of 500-800 meters (1,640-2,625 ft)—hence the town’s name. Los Gigantes means “The Giants.”
 
View from Los Gigantes Nearby to the south are the resorts of Puerto de Santiago and Playa de la Arena. 3 km to the north is the village of Masca, which can be reached by boat or car.

The town has a charming marina, which is completely protected by seawalls to mitigate the ocean’s impact on the area. A small black-sand beach lies between the rocks and the marina. The marina features a promenade lined with many restaurants. Near the harbor is a lido.

The cliffs at Los Gigantes, known as Acantilados de Los Gigantes in Spanish, are one of the island’s main tourist attractions.

Tenerife Weather and Climate: One of the most wonderful aspects of the beautiful island of Tenerife is its climate. The weather is brilliant, so the largest of the Canary Islands has a reputation for being one of the best year-round vacation destinations. The sun shines more days a year here than in most other places in the world—just one reason people visit from January through December.

Of course, the weather depends on the season you travel and the specific places you visit. The south is always the warmest and sunniest, with the least amount of cloud cover, and the west also enjoys more than its fair share of good weather. The Nordic region is also very hot, although there may be more rain and cloud cover in this part of the island compared to the rest.

The closer you get to Mount Teide National Park—the Tenerife Volcanic Region and home to Spain’s highest peak, El Teide—the more changeable the weather becomes.
