Boat trips to the Farne Islands run from the nearby harbour, the islands are famous for their nesting seabirds and grey seal colonies. Horse riding, a links golf course, kayak and surfboard hire, windsurfing, mountain and road cycling are all available nearby as well as coast and country walks in this outdoor playground.

The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is a lovely two mile walk from the property door along the top of St Aidan’s dunes and onto wide expanses of golden, and often empty, sandy beaches. Just beyond Bamburgh is Budle Bay, where at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is the home to countless thousands of sea and land birds making this bird sanctuary a haven for bird watchers.

The market town of Alnwick with its own castle offers many facilities a few miles inland. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!
