Vacation home on the banks of the Þjórsá River, surrounded by nature, with expansive views and an ideal location

Our two newly built Herrulækur vacation homes offer a fantastic view of the Þjórsá River. It’s an absolute delight to enjoy the evening sun on the large terrace. The cottages are surrounded by nature—birds, sheep, and horses are your neighbors. This also makes it a great spot to see the Northern Lights, as there are no other lights to interfere. The cottages measure 31 m² and feature a living/dining area, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The bedroom has a bed measuring 1.60 m x 2 m and a loft bed measuring 1.20 m x 2 m, and the living room has a sofa bed (1.40 m x 2 m). The mattresses are of very high quality. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, a 4-burner ceramic cooktop, a microwave, a toaster, a kettle, and a French press coffee maker. The house is very well insulated and always warm, even in winter. On the large wooden deck, wooden furniture invites you to enjoy the scenery. Of course, the houses have free Wi-Fi.

Our family lives just a few hundred meters away from your vacation home; we’re always happy to help with any questions you may have. During the summer months, we offer horseback rides ranging from one hour to multi-day trips on our well-trained Icelandic horses. Rides through the Icelandic countryside are available for both beginners and experienced riders.
