Peaceful and affordable hotel close to centre
We stayed here 3 nights during the world snooker championship. Hotel is located just outside the city centre (around 10 minutes walking distance from the Crucible theatre). Overall the hotel was very peaceful but a bit outdated. Our room was just opposite to the cleaning/service room and noise from the service trolleys woke us up early in the morning. There was also a mild smoke smell in our bathroom. The breakfast was simple and they offered english breakfast added with some yogurt and fruits.

Yövyin ylimmässä kerroksessa. Huone oli siisti ja alue rauhallinen. Ainut miinus suihkusta, vettä tuli todella pienellä paineella, joten hiusten pesu kesti ikuisuuden.

The hotel is easy to find and has a private parking offered by NCP. You also get a tiny discount from the hotel. The hotel looks basic and there is nothing special about the rooms, but we found them clean. The bed was comfortable. We felt pretty safe in the hotel. When we needed an extra towel the lady from the reception was super helpful and happy to make our stay much pleasant. The included breakfast was a typical English breakfast and it was delicious. Overall it was a normal positive experience and the Lady in Red from the reception was the one who made our check in much pleasant. Thank you.

Didnt get off to a good start, parked in the car park, on the website said no reservation for parking to be told at reception I had to move the car as spaces were all reserved, hotel very noisy ,doors banging to the early hours, lots of groups of young men, more like a young peoples hostel, not in a great area of the city, didnt feel that safe walking home late at night

The hotel is pretty central and as close to the town centre as most of the other less expensive hotels. My room was comfortable and clean apart from a thick layer of grime on the inside of the window. The hotel is old and could do with some new carpets and a paint job. The parking is in the adjacent NCP car park which is very close and cheap (less than £10 for a two night stay). Be aware that the car park is closed and not accessible from 10pm to 5am. Breakfast was fine. The main weird thing about the place is that reception is hardly ever manned. Not when I arrived and at other times. I had to wait with several other people to check in until somebody came in who knew the place and found a door and shouted for someone. There was a notice to ring a number for help. I called it and the phone on the reception desk in front of me rang! I had an issue with my key card. The feller who helped me was great, friendly and helpful and fixed the problem but I had to go and fetch him out of the kitchen 3 times as there was nobody in reception when needed. Because of that, I would probably book elsewhere next time.

Cannot fault the staff, the service is excellent. Area around building is poor, small entrance, dirty car park in front, not a good first impression. Room large and comfortable, bathrooom spacious and clean. Lack of power sockets near beds and lack of comfortable chair near power sockets made relaxing with phone or laptop etc difficult. Hair dryer missing. Good tea facilties, excellent TV, very comfortable beds. Food at breakfast very average - hot and plentiful but cheap sausages, watery eggs etc. Must stress again that the staff were lovely and the overall stay was comfortable, just let down a bit by the area, the food, layout of rooms.

I stayed in room 803 and the floor at the foot of the bed was damp, there was a foul odour in the room throughout the duration of my stay, the room was cold and the tiny heater did little to change this (it also made a horrible sound when it was on). I was in “Business Class” and not once was my room tended to, hotel states that it’s a king sized bed however it’s just two singles put together. The room was dirty, cracks in the ceiling in the bathroom, minuscule amounts of body wash/shampoo/conditioner/soap (remember this was business class). TV was so small I needed binoculars to view it from my bed. I’ve never missed my mum’s womb before but I did whilst staying here.

Stayed here during a cycling break. The staff helped me store my bicycle in a storage room so didn’t need to bring into my room. Good chat with the front room. Easy access to city centre and restaurants. Right in the middle of a cycle lane that goes around the city. Definitely worth going back to this hotel 👍

The stay was pleasant, comfortable and the room served its purpose. Property is outdated and in need of refurbishment, an affordable place within a 10 minute walk of the city. The advert which entices you more with a free breakfast, however, the breakfast is a 4/10 at best.

The room was nice size and had plenty of amenities, but the tiles in the bathroom could do with re-grouting in places. The outside of the building looked like a building site with loads of wall tiles missing and boarded up windows/doors of a couple of small businesses but upon entering the main entrance it was so much nicer. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the guests on my floor were noisy, starting with a group arguing in the corridor with each other and on loudspeaker on their phones from 11.45 pm to 1.00 am. I was then woke up again at 3.00 am by a group of women down the corridor who were talking so loud I thought they were right outside my door and after an hour of this I had to call the hotel reception and ask them to speak to the other guests about the noise. The staff responded quickly, but unfortunately the group started again around 7.00 am so I had very little sleep all night. The breakfast was very good and cooked the way I like, although I was disappointed there was no options for eggs other than scrambled as I don't eat scrambled egg and was looking forward to a fried egg with my breakfast. Overall the hotel was nice and the price was good. The food at breakfast was good and if it wasn't for the noisy guests I would of had a nice night.

Excellent location with discounted parking at the adjacent NCP carpark. Our room was spacious, quiet and very clean. Breakfast was more than adequate with a good range of hot options. Fried eggs would be a good addition. Price was lower than other similar quality competitors.

This hotel was filthy! Bedroom and bathroom dirty and kitchen/communal area unhygienic. Couldn't stay there, checked out and promised a refund, which didn't get issued.

Basic hotel but room good size and fab breakfast
The room was great good size, comfy bed except the bathroom towel rail pat test should have been done 2019. The best thing was the free breakfast especially the mushrooms other hotels use tinned mushroom but here was fresh

A real mixed bag
On arrival the front of the hotel looks tired and shabby. When i got to my room I was pleased with the size and condition, however the TV was unable to get a signal at any point, so wasnt able to use it and the shower was disappointing at best and there was a large crack in the bathroom mirror (caused before I even looked at it) The walls very incredibly thin and everytime someone either went in or left a room near to me the wall next to the bed shook so much I thought they was trying to get into my room. Breakfast in the morning was good, certainly no complaints, although there was a bizarre incident when the cook strode over holding an egg to the next table and told the man on the next table that this is where the scrambled eggs come from! The bed was very comfortable and apart from the room shaking at regular intervals I was able to get a fairly decent sleep. Very a cheap night and was ok for the money but certainly wouldnt pay anymore than I did to stay there.

Alright stopover hotel
Hotel was a bit run down, and the corridor smelt very strongly of weed. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Can't complain for the price I paid, but wouldn't stay there if it wasn't so cheap! Good for an overnight stay, but not much longer. Didn't try the food so can't comment.

I booked through Expedia's website, paid by debit card, and received a booking reference number. On arrival the hotel had no record of my booking and I had to make a separate booking, and so I paid twice for one room for one night. My complaint to Expedia and request for a refund has been ignored. Why?
