Excellent except for pool man incident

We were very happy with the place. Almost gave it a 5 star but was very unhappy with the “pool man” not knocking on the door to say he was coming into private property nor presenting himself when I repeatedly asked him who he was and why he was there. He didn’t have a uniform nor was he carrying pool equipment. It is very unprofessional and unsafe to send somebody unannounced and during somebody’s stay. They could’ve programmed the cleaning when nobody was there or simply knocking on the door and saying he was the poolman and presenting his credentials. We had children and could have easily been somebody pretending to be a pool man. I tried calling SPI rentals or the owner but had a very hard time communicating with them.

2025 Vacation Getaway

We loved the house, it was perfect for the my husband, our best friend, & myself plus it is spacious enough for 8 adults with no problem. When we decide to return to South Padre, I will definitely be booking this same home if it’s available!!

RIGHT IN THE BEACH

It was the property i was looking for right at the beach. Only issue was there was construction on the condo next door, kids weren't able to take a nap after the beach. Dust kept blowing to the pool had to wait for them to leave. Other then that it was good

Wonderful location! We really enjoyed the private pool and being steps to the beach. The only downfall was that the next door neighbor was having a pool installed during our stay. The constant construction noise was a little disruptive to our "vacation mode". Other than that, we will definitely return to the Good Hope House!

Decent place

Over priced for the dates we stayed, appliances are outdated but served their purpose, dryer doesnt dry though. Other than that property was nice for an 8 person family with small children.

Outdated Home

The carpets are horrible. We will never rent this house again. You don’t even want to take off your shoes to step on the carpet. The stains are soo bad and all over the carpet. The Tv in the living room is way too small. None of the rooms have TVs. The bathroom in the hallway doesn’t lock so you can’t use it comfortably. Washer and dryer are really old.

We were looking for a beach house with a pool and we got it!! Big, lovely home. Amazing views. Master bedroom could use a new matress. Upstairs furniture needs cleaning. Walking distance to several restaurants.

Annual family reunion

Our stay was amazing !! Being from the valley you would think we would get out to enjoy the beautiful beaches at SPI but unfortunately we don’t and our annual family reunion is one of the only times we do make it out. The house was just as described and by far one of the best rentals we have stayed at. Yes it could use an update but non the less we were very pleased. It was clean and well stocked with the everyday essentials. The pool was clean and was enjoyed by us all. We loved that we could bbq at the unit being that many on the island don’t allow this. The beds were all comfortable and clean. The walkway to the beach does need some repairs but it understandable being that several units use it. There was dredging being preformed on the beach the last 2 days we were there but we understand that to be able to enjoy SPI for years to come it is a necessity and it didn’t make our trip any less enjoyable. We would definitely stay at this rental again.

Check in was fairly easy we had our own garage which was nice the living quarters and one bedroom which we had our 3 year old and 8 year old in was a little inconvenient due to eating up there but only being allowed to grill on the downstairs patio plus the stairs were pretty steep the tv stand wouldn’t work properly so you had to sit on the couch’s only and not in any of the chairs a lot of people said that they hated that you had to go through the master to get to the pool but for us it helped us because of all the littles our 6 year old that has autism slept downstairs in the room next to ours the pool was wonderful but the listing says 3 TVs there are only 2 the master bath sinks would back up and take forever to drain the decked walkway to the beach is broken and about to fall through the grass leading from the wooded walkway to the beach was very grown up when I called and asked about it they said they did not do maintenance on the grass (which having our own beach access was a huge selling point for us) but the worst of all of it was the last night of our stay a roach with no exaggeration around 3inches long crawled into bed with me 3 and 8 year old if it hadn’t been our last night we would have checked out early and left.

Run!!!

I am honestly surprised by the number of positive reviews. House is in need of major TLC. Carpets are stained and need to be ripped out on all floors, pool area gate is falling off the wall, window in upstairs bathroom is broken, wall and air vents are covered in dust, no privacy in the “master” room, out door shower is broken and sprays all over the furniture when you try to use it, there is a foul odor when using any of the showers so we all wore shower shoes, and biggest issue of all is the railing on the balcony isn’t fixed to the wall!!! We found out when someone touched the railing while looking out at the ocean! Thankfully no one fell or was hurt since we noticed it immediately. On top of all of this a construction group showed up Saturday morning to work on the house!!! They were blocking the pool area, IN THE POOL, and painting the house right next to our cars. Only positive was the proximity to the water but even the boardwalk to that is sketchy…always wear shoes and be careful. Please show this house some love and attention before listing for families to use on their vacations.

Great location!

The place is in a great location. Love that the kitchen was fully equipped from cups to even a vase, which we needed since my brother had gotten my mother some roses for her bday. It was quiet since no one was renting either condo to the sides. Only thing is that they main downstairs bedroom would do much better with no carpet since it looks like its been traipsed on a lot but other than that it's a very nice place.

Needs Upkeep and Updating

This is the second time I have stayed at this property. The carpet downstairs is very dirty and needs to be replaced. The wood floor in the kitchen is cupping bowling cracking and missing in multiple areas. You have to be careful that you don't get a splinter near the refrigerator. The couches are uncomfortable and one of the couches you can fill out the springs poking through.. the house is in a perfect location easy walking distance to multiple restaurants. It's right on the beach with a gorgeous view. The pool is small but very comfortable. The balcony is perfect for watching the waves rolling.

Good Time

Bright, clean and delightful. Direct access to the beach for kids and family is wonderful experience for 'inlanders'. Open kitchen and living areas are great for family and friends, with the marvelous view !

Great Location

This property is in a great location! the pool is not very deep however did enjoy it. The property needs some work done to it and the price is a little high due to the repairs needed. Overall this is a good place to stay just be careful as the tiles on the patio are extremely slippery when wet. My son fell stepping out & received a deep gash in his elbow as a result.

Great beach access and close to property.

Wish the carpet stains weren’t so prominent and the storm blinds/shutters were visible to be functional. Other than that, great rental and even had the pool cleaned while we were there.

No Hope Beach House

This property once upon a time might have been a great place to stay but not any more. We were shocked at condition this property was in when we checked in. This is our annual vacation for my sons birthday and were very disappointed when we arrived to see how run down this property was. Shows age all over the interior and exterior of property. AC unit outside was ready to stop working. It did run throughout our stay but on the last day when it started in the morning all the lights flickered as it started and the unit was making a lot of noise. We shut it down. The hurricane shutters were off the patio doors on the upper deck and lower pool patio. They were just left laying on the deck and on the side of the house. The outside patio table was in terrible condition. Rest of patio furniture was very cheap. Plastic chairs with faded cushions. Carpet was old and stained throughout house. Very old and dated bed coverings. Very old, cheap and dated kitchen utensils. Didn't even have a pizza pan. Had to purchase one. Every patio door had a wooden stick that needed to be placed into the door frame for "security." Upstairs toilet was plugged when we arrived. Had to plug in on several occasions. Oven lite did not work. Ceiling fans old and dirty/stained. Light bulbs in can lights had some type of staining on them. Garage light flickered when turned on. Rust holes through garage door. No garage door remote. Garage door opener pad on wall in garage was loose from wall. No window coverings on upstairs patio doors. Window vertical blinds in lower bedroom missing blinds. The tiles by pool very slippery. Surprised no one have gotten hurt there. The location was fine. The pool was the best thing the house had to offer. Needless to say we were VERY disappointed for what we paid to stay here. I would NOT recommend this house to anyone. It needs a make over.

Ok with the potential to be REALLY nice...

Let me start off by saying, this property is in a perfect spot right on the beach. It's got its own great little pool with a waterfall and the inside is nicely kept. Having said that, you can tell IMMEDIATELY that this is owned by a company and not some couples property. This property is so outdated and upgrades are FAR overdue. If somebody would just take the time to upgrade fixtures, clean up debris and give this place a thorough cleaning, this place could be so good. One weird thing is that the kitchen is upstairs and the only way to get through the pool is through the master bedroom.
