    Our cozy cottage features three comfortable bedrooms, each thoughtfully designed with your comfort in mind. The bedrooms boast plush beds and tasteful decor, creating the perfect atmosphere for a great night's sleep after a day of exploring the nearby natural wonders.

    LOCATION:
    This home is located in Stanley, Virginia. The closest towns are Stanley, and Luray, which are filled with awesome places to eat like Woodstock Cafe and Wisteria Winery. This property is located 15 minutes Luray Caverns and 25 minutes away from Shenandoah National Park. Make sure to visit all the close by local wineries, like Wisteria Winery and Castle Winery, and book a trip with Shenandoah Wine Tours!

    You will have access to the full space except the 2 sheds which we use for storage. I cannot wait for you to explore this wonderful part of the world!
    Other things to note
    While dogs are allowed at the property, the property is not fully enclosed therefore we do require them to be leashed if you are worried about them getting lost. We also also ask that if a pet is left indoors by themselves, that they are kennelled in order to prevent any damage to the property while not under human supervision.

    Please also note that due to this being in a rural location the internet can be a little spotty in inclement weather. The only wifi that is available in the area is satellite internet through Viasat. It works well for light working from home, streaming Netflix, answering e-mails, checking social media, etc., but if you need to be doing a lot of uploading, downloading, and/or gaming it may not be the best option for you. You may however head to the local coffee shop (Broad Porch Coffee Co.) that has free wifi and is only 15 mins away!

    This is more of a remote stay and a perfect way for you to get away from the busy city and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature :)

    If you are coming during the winter, a 4WD is HIGHLY recommended. The driveway may feel steep for those who are not used to driving in the mountains, especially if conditions are icy.

    We always recommend that all guests PURCHASE TRIP INSURANCE in the event of a cancellation.

Very beautifully decorated, clean and well maintained cottage. We appreciate all detail info provided about the house and surroundings and especially the warm welcome with lights and hot tub ready to use. It's located in more secluded location but not too far from local attractions, so we enjoyed hiking in Shanendoah NP. Wisteria Winery 5 min from cottage is awesome too.

The property was very clean and a private location. The owner and their assistant were very quick in answering any questions. It was exactly as described. It has a hot tub but unfortunately we did not use it. Our main focus was to hike and also visited the Luray Caverns. We definitely would stay there again.

Loved this Cottage

We enjoyed our stay at the Colorful Cottage. So beautifully decorated and it had everything we needed. The hot tub was perfect for easing our aching muscles after long days of hiking.

Relaxing getaway!

Enjoyed a relaxing getaway with friends. This place was just what we were looking for. Amazing decor, enjoyed hot tub and fire pit. Was tucked away to feel just far enough away from it all. We spent some time by river just about 20 min away. We were pleasantly surprised to find the extra roll away beds So there was plenty of space for 8 of us ladies.

Serene and modern - hot tub, too!

The property sits on a crest of a hill, surrounded by trees and tranquility. Once you’ve ascended the driveway, you’re in a jewelbox-like house with lots of space and color. The beds were super comfortable, and the kitchen had cookware for almost anything. The hot tub was truly special- it’s set apart with its own deck, lights, and shade sail. Wonderful stay, communicative owners.

Shenandoah Gem

This was the perfect spot for a group of friends from across the country to gather and celebrate love and the beautiful landscape. My wife and a portion of this group stayed in this beautiful home for a wedding celebration nearby. We loved the vibrant colors and character to each room. The seclusion of the property was also quite appealing.

Hiking and hot tub getaway

This was the nicest, well prepared, accommodating place we've ever stayed. It was so refreshing to find a place so eager to cater to folks bringing their fur babies. After a very nice hike to Rose River Falls the kitchen was so fresh and ready to prepare a great meal. The bathrooms stocked with everything we'd need and the hot tub was so inviting, we stayed in it for HOURS. We will definitely return to stay here and don't recommend anyone else go there so we can have it all for ourselves lol. No, if you pass this house and these hosts up, you're making a mistake.

property was beautifully designed.lovely hot tub towels.but the lack of cleanliness throughout took away from our enjoyment of the aesthetics.upon arrival I had to clean the microwave and oven, both of which were filthy. we were asked to walk about the house without shoes, and were surprised to see how filthy our socks and feet were at that. one bathroom trash can had garbage in it when we arrived, and another bathroom trash can didn't have an insert at all, the trash just kind of falls through and sits on the floor unless you put in a bag (which hadn't been done before we arrived).I wrote to Olivia about the cleanliness but nothing was offered or done about that.I therefore saw no point in adding remarks about other issues: The listing says fully equipped kitchen but the kitchen is not well enough equipped. no bowls for mixing or serving, no wine glasses. no special equipment other than the basics. we ran out of dish soap during our stay and since it's in a hidden container we didn't see that was about to happen and couldn't prepare for it. shouldn't happen in a house that is equipped and prepared for the next guest.The porches were impossible to enjoy because of all the bugs.most of the windows in the house do not have screens on them so you cannot open the windows - tons of bugs. other guests had commented on that in the guest book, but it seems like the owners do not really care to invest in the hosting experience.we will not be returning.

Great home, terrible location if visiting JMU

We stayed here because we were attending a graduation at James Madison University. The home was magnificent. Communication with the property manager was fine except for the fact that the location for the home is a complete lie. The listing says about 27 minutes. I messaged the property manager and they CONFIRMED with me that the property was indeed 27 minutes away. After graduation and dinner, we head to the home and the GPS tells me it’s going to take more than 50 minutes to arrive to the property with no traffic. My family and I were absolutely upset about the location and the fact that we were lied to. The listing does read that the drive is in the mountains. Please be prepared for the scariest and longest drive of your night. Especially in the dark. Never again.
