”My second stay at the Portland Hotel, Ashington and once again, they excelled. Staff could not be more friendly and welcoming (Jess and the guy behind the bar, sorry I forgot your name) looked after me very well. Room (I stayed in one of the rooms out back in the purpose built rooms) was lovely. Great to have a fridge in the room and a very comfy bed. Kept beautifully clean (Thanks housekeeping) and contained everything a traveller could want in a hotel room. Desk space, plenty of power sockets...

”All staff were excellent, super friendly and helpful, I'd booked an attic room but seeing my husband on crutches they immediately swapped us into a first floor room which I think was an upgrade as it had a huge freestanding copper bath and Chesterfield sofa as well as a king (or maybe super king) sized bed. Despite the room not having been planned for use, everything was clean and fully stocked which was impressive. Bed extremely comfy, didn't want to leave! Breakfast being included was great,...

”Great place to stay. In a great location for walking holiday and visiting local attractions. Place was kept in excellent condition. Lovely views of the hills and to watch the sun go down on a night. Nice bottle of wine left by the hosts for your arrival. Left to you own devices by the owners unless you had a problem. Would definitely stay again. ”

We requested (and booked) a family room, on arrival, we were given two double rooms opposite each other. Not a problem for our 1 night stay, but it could have been.
