Fiftieth wedding anniversary family get away
We had an excellent experience at the Bauman’s Hillside Hideaway. It was spacious enough to accommodate our large family. The fireplace and fire pit were great additions to add to our visit. The game room had something for everyone.

Our first impression driving up we couldn’t believe how lucky we were to find this place. It was just as pictured inside and outside. The amenities were abundant we couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was super hot when we were there so the pool and everything about the pool was amazing. I especially loved that it had an automatic pool cover for little ones safety.

Absolutely amazing!
This stay has set the bar for all future stays in other homes. We could not get over how no expense or thought was spared when thinking about the guest. Perfect retreat with all the amenities!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The owners have thought of everything and really went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. We had 4 small kids with us and loved how the game room is attached to the main house as it gave more room for them to run around. We stayed in the winter and could not take advantage of all the outdoor amenities but are looking forward to booking again in the summer so we can enjoy everything it has to offer.

Perfect Large Family Compound
This is the best rental experience I've ever had in 30+ years of renting vacation properties for myself and family. Four separate families (within the same family) came to town for a family wedding. We began discussing when we could rent the property again shortly after arrival. This place is beautiful and provides so many amenities that you won't want to leave (to go to a wedding). We enjoyed the heated pool, outdoor firepit, hot tub, outdoor patio & kitchen, pool & ping pong table, etc. It was such a great environment to just spend time with our family after traveling from different areas of Missouri. Emma has managed to provide all the comforts of home plus anything else you could possibly imagine needing. She's thought of it all. The kitchen is stocked with tools needed to cook for a crowd including every spice you could possibly need. The beds/bedding is incredibly comfortable. So comfortable, I asked Emma to provideme with brand names for pillows and linens I could purchase. We were enjoying relaxing and spending time together in this environment so much, we had to force ourselves to leave and attend the wedding that brought us to town. We discussed possibly coming back again for a week over the summer or even for Thanksgiving. We will find a reason to return, just to stay and enjoy all Bauman's Hillside has to offer.

Fantastic
Every detail of this space was perfect and well thought out. If you forget something at home, you can probably find it in the house. The pool was our favorite activity as well as the hot tub. Beds , pillows and blankets were perfect, very comfy and warm. Emma is very communicative and she puts a lot of pride into her space. She met me at the property upon arrival to show me how everything works. We were granted early check in and late checkout, all I had to do was ask! If I could offer one suggestion, it’s to note the driveway is a big gravel hill and can be tough to climb for smaller vehicles.

Fully loaded family fun!
I don't know where to begin. This property was awesome to have the chance to spend a week at with our kids and parents. It was well worth the 6 month wait! Emma was such an amazing host and more than accomendating. To name a few things that we enjoyed was the welcome basket and smore kit, the safety cover on the pool which allowed the pool to stay clean and warm, the commercial ice maker, baby video monitors and the Sonos sound system was a BLAST! I want one for our house. Emma's guidebook was super handy and couldn't believe the level of detail it provides. Not so great was the staircase, it was difficult to navigate and can be treterious. The coffee table in the living room can be dangerous, our kids hit their heads on it and some of us adults ran into it. But overall these things would not keep us from returning. Thank you Emma for first class service!

This property is managed by the owner and is magnificent! Cleanest property I've ever rented, including vents and ceiling fans! Good work, cleaners! So many towels: kitchen, bath, pool. Comfortable beds & bedding. Games galore!!! And....a large ice machine. Treat yourself to this wonderful oasis.

The property was awesome and the owners are wonderful and so accommodating. The house comes fully stocked with everything you could ever need on a trip and it made packing so much easier, especially traveling in a large group with kids. The pool was beautiful and the outdoor grill area was such a nice cool place to hangout. The kids loved the huge sand volleyball court and the fire pit was a perfect place for late night s’mores. We would absolutely recommend this property to all of our family and friends!

Simply amazing!
This property blew us away in terms of cleanliness, organization and amount of supplies available to us. Everything in the house is labeled (including light switches) and organized! Emma was a breeze to work with and so helpful with everything. We had a family reunion of all adults and love to swim in the pool, use the hot tub, play sand volleyball/badminton, and have a fire at the end of the evening. I've stayed in a LOT of VRBOs all over the world but this by far was the best. If you have a big group and want to enjoy the outdoors, this place cannot be beat. As a matter of fact, we already booked for next year!

A Perfect Family Vacation!
We could not have asked for a better rental for our family vacation! We had 6 adults and 7 children, ages 2 to 11. This house was a perfect choice for our family! The website is accurate as to the description and amenities included. Emma is an outstanding hostess and made us feel very welcome. The guide she provided before we left home was extremely detailed with an inventory list to help us with packing. There were many things we didn't have to pack because they were already at the house! We were delighted with all of the little "extras" the house had for our enjoyment. Everything about this house was so well thought out! We felt extremely comfortable with the cleanliness of the home. The kitchen is fully stocked with every utensil, pan or spice that you might need. The organization of supplies made it so easy to find things. There are lots of activities both inside and outside, so everyone stayed entertained. Our grandkids loved the large pool, the sand and the Game Room. The parents LOVED the outdoor shower for easy cleanup! The pool cover gave us peace of mind each night with two toddlers roaming about! We had a fire in the fire pit several nights and made s'mores. The outdoor kitchen was perfect for grilling and bringing snacks out for the kids. The sound system is fabulous and provided a fun atmosphere for our activities. We ventured downtown Ste. Genevieve and enjoyed exploring the historic town. We stopped at Sara's Ice Cream for a wonderful frozen treat. We also ordered out for pizzas from Sirro's Restaurant one night. It was very good pizza and easy to pick up. We have stayed at many rentals and this one by far is at the top of the list. Emma is great to work with and the home is amazing. We would highly recommend it for travelers of all ages!

Excellent home and beautiful outside amenities, very clean, don't hesitate, you'll love this rental. Just a few suggestions for your "older" guests: a grab bar would be very helpful in the main bathroom as the tub is very deep & really, also in the upstairs shared bath. Also a hand rail on the upper portion of the steps leading upstairs. FYI...I always filter for our max of 16 family members and this home comes up but it really only sleeps 11 in beds. The owner includes 3 roll a ways and 2 baby cribs in that count. Wonderful home, very well stocked, you'll love it!!

The house was very well stocked with just about any item you could want from the kitchen to the recreation area. Amenities were fantastic! Tons of stuff for everyone in the family to enjoy, along with a serene/secluded location. The best part was Emma, who greeted us upon arrival, had goodies waiting for us, and offered her availability any time with a simple text or call. She made the experience 11 out of 10! Our hostess Emma has thought of everything for this magnificent family hideaway. She knows what a family needs and wants naturally. All you need to bring is your clothing and food. She greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tutorial on the amenities. She treated us to local wine, cheeses and sausage from the area. She also made the effort to treat the children to Halloween treats and activities. The house was immaculately clean and well appointed inside and outside. This place was so much fun and relaxing for our family we hated to leave. We felt right at home. We can’t wait to come back next year and perhaps try the newly constructed house that will open in 2021 ! Kudos to the Bauman Hillside Hideaway.

Wonderful amenities and charming decor
This place is top notch! Every detail and amenity is well thought out. I was surprised at how much was supplied to us (kitchen gadgets, baby equipment, pool towels, etc). I’ll be sure to pack lighter next time! The decor is updated and very tastefully done. Beds are the most comfortable ever. House manager went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed. Would highly recommend this place and can’t wait for the second property to be built and ready to rent. We will definitely be making more trips here in the future!

Where do I begin describing this experience? It was the best short-term lodging I’ve ever stayed at — and that’s no exaggeration. Heck, it was probably the best lodging of any type I’ve ever stayed at. This place was amazing. From the amount of space to the outdoor activities to the high-level music/TV operation to the location to the cleanliness to Emma’s friendliness, I can’t possibly explain in this review how much we enjoyed staying there. Everything was immaculately clean, and Emma has every single item you can possibly need already stocked and ready to go at the house. I’ve never seen anything like it. She had things I never even would’ve thought of. It saved me a ton of time and effort because I hardly had to bring anything. Perhaps what stood out most to me was how nothing at this house was done or prepared with half-effort — it was all done at the highest level. And everything — kitchen utensils, appliances throughout the place, swimming pool, hot tub, horseshoes, fire pit, sand volleyball court, sound system, furniture, game room, bathrooms, bedding, TVs, etc. — was top-notch. No corners were cut, and it’s obvious! Emma and her crew know how to do it right. And speaking of Emma, she was extremely helpful throughout the entire booking and prep process and our stay. She timely answered every question I asked beforehand and was so helpful, responsive, and friendly during our stay. I couldn't have asked for a nicer person. All 11 people in our party were blown away by how nice this property was. It’s a one-of-a-kind place that actually exceeds its reviews, pictures, and summary. You have to be there to really capture it. It’s conveniently located and there are no neighbors anywhere close, so the peace and privacy are second to none. I, and everyone else in my group, would give this 100/100 stars (yes, I meant 100, not just 10) and would love to return. Emma, thank you for doing such an unbelievable job and being so friendly and so passionate about your renters’ experience. We will never forget this trip!

Fantastic time in a fantastic home
As other reviewers have said, the property is amazing. Very clean, everything you could need readily available, every detail thought of. The owner was quick to respond to any questions in advance and during the stay, and made you feel very comfortable upon check-in. And while the house is great, the outdoor area rivals any resort you will find. The pool is large, clean and packed with extra fun features, plenty of seating and activities. The sand volleyball area is HUGE, and the horseshoes and firepit are really well-maintained and laid out perfectly alongside the pool area. And maybe our favorite area was the outdoor kitchen/living area. We had sports on all day and wathced movies at night while the kids swam, we grilled/cooked/ate meals there, made drinks at the bar and even cooled off with the misters. We've stayed at probably 20 different properties over the years and this was one of the very best! Highly recommended.

Our kids called it the ‘Dream House’ and everyone had a great time!
The property is absolutely as described and was a great getaway from our COVID isolation. The kids loved the pool, we swam most of the day, everyday and the sand and beach toys were a great distraction for our 4 year old. We enjoyed a fire every night and there was plenty of wood and kindling and even some lighter fluid to make it easy to get started. During this COVID crisis it was the perfect getaway as we needed a break but weren’t ready to fly or do hotels, we had brought Clorox wipes to sanitize everything, but honestly the place was so clean and you could tell they had taken extra care and precautions, we didn’t even feel the need to use them! Most importantly, what set this place apart at the owners Emma and Joe, they were absolutely amazing. Emma met us when we arrived on Memorial Day and was very welcoming and personally showed us everything from the pool cover to the Sonos app to control the music throughout the house. They were never intrusive but always available, the perfect hosts and they truly do provide everything you need as others have said. I also have to thank Emma for picking up my wife’s purse we forgot at a restaurant and mailing it back to us, we texted to check if the cleaners had found it by chance and out of the blue she offered to drive to the next town and get the purse if the restaurant found it, that truly was above and beyond and just shows how much they care for their guests! Emma and Joe take absolute pride in their properties and it shows, we got a peak at the Big house that will be open soon and our kids can’t wait to come back with an even bigger group and stay there!

Perfect place for a getaway!
We were looking for a place to escape for a few days and let the kids have some fun, and this was absolutely perfect! We stayed here for 4 nights with a party of six: 2 moms and 4 kids (ranging in age from 10 to 14). The location is completely secluded at the end of a gravel road, and since we brought our food with us, we did not leave the property at all until it was time to pack up and check out. Every detail has been thought of and provided for, both inside and outside: cookware, grilling tools, plastic drinkware for poolside, tons of towels for pool and hot tub, great lighting for outdoor swimming and activities after dark, and the list goes on. The TV and Sonos setups were great, especially being able to listen and watch outside in the covered outdoor kitchen/living area. We found ourselves swimming in the morning, lounging under the shade for a few hours to get out of the sun, and then back in the pool and activities by mid-afternoon. The kids enjoyed the sand volleyball pit quite a lot, and there is a shaded area with toys for little ones that want to just play in the sand. Emma was fantastic to work with, and as other reviews mentioned, stocked us with welcome gifts of local wine, cheese, sausage, and a s'mores kit that we put to good use in the fire pit. The only tiny negative of the entire place is that although you feel quite secluded in the woods, it is close to the interstate and you can hear that noise a bit. However, if it hadn't already been solidly booked for the next 2 months, we would have planned another visit as soon as possible!

Hands down best rental we’ve ever been to
This is by far the best property we have ever stayed at. As frequent Disney goers I feel like our family is accustomed to a pretty high level of hospitality and every expectation we came in with was not only met but exceeded. I agree with every other review on here talking about the awesome outside area, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, welcome gift, great communication between our party and the owner. It was also the little things like dental flossers, Sonos speakers in every room/area, q-tips, every baby item needed, sand toys for the kids, bug spray/sunscreen and the commercial sized ice machine making the things you don’t usually pay any mind to covered. We left refreshed, sunburnt lol and closer as a family. I’m not only thankful for all the memories we’ll be talking about for years, but already looking for a time we can all return! Seriously, get a group together and book it! You definitely will not be disappointed!!! Thanks again for having us :)

All the amenities! Perfect weekend getaway
From the time of booking through the end of our stay couldn't have been better. The communication we received from the property owner, Emma could not have been better. Her focus on making our visit perfect was evident from beginning to end. From the wine, beer, sausage and cheese left as a welcome package to beautiful, clean, inviting home all there for our enjoyment. We can't wait to bring our family back to enjoy the pool, back patio, horseshoes and fire pit when the weather is warmer. It was absolutely perfect.

Wow!!Wow!! and WOW!!!
The photos do not give justice to this beautiful property. Emma had us feeling right at home. The thought that has been done to provide everything imaginable is utterly amazing. One of the most kid friendly places we've ever seen. Can't wait to return during the summer.

Perfect getaway!
The property and all the amenities were amazing. They thought of everything! The outdoor space and activities were wonderful and the place has enough to do to keep a large group happy and active. Every little detail was thought through and very appreciated!

Great property!
We had an excellent stay, we only wish we could have stayed longer. We enjoyed using the fire pit and the pool. There ping pong table and pool table were also fun! The app Emma had us download worked well! The house was very well cleaned and we would definitely stay again. It was very clean
