Surbourg is located in northern Alsace between Soultz-sous-Forêts and Haguenau. Surbourg is a quiet village and is ideally situated near major transportation routes.

From a historical perspective, 67250 Surbourg is a very interesting place, as it was the site of military battles, primarily between Germany and France. It is a miracle to see the villages today in such a beautiful, flower-filled setting after all the destruction of lives and homes. There are monuments commemorating the terrible war years; the most important is the “Magniot Line,” and the entrance to one of the largest bunker complexes is located 10 km from Surbourg. In the villages, you’ll find many places to stop and enjoy good food and drinks. From Surbourg, you can reach the French Vosges Mountains very quickly, as well as the German Black Forest. In the immediate vicinity are very pretty Alsatian villages such as Seebach, Hunspach, and Betchdorf, as well as the vineyard villages at the start of the Alsace Wine Route: Steinseltz, Cleebourg, and Rott (don’t miss a wine testing at the Cleebourg wineries). On the German side, there’s the wine village of Schweigen-Rechtenbach (with the wine gate marking the start of the German Wine Route), Dörrenbach—known as the “Sleeping Beauty Village”—and the spa town of Bad Bergzabern.
