For lovers of relaxation and the sea, eastern Sicily and the area surrounding Syracuse offer everything one could wish for. Starting from the ancient Greek city and heading south, the best-equipped and most beautiful beaches to explore are Minareto, Fanusa, Arenella, and Fontane Bianche, whose name derives from the natural freshwater springs and the particular white color of the sand. On the island of Ortigia, you will also find equipped solariums (Zefiro and Nettuno) and a small free beach called Cala Rossa. Further south, some 30 km away, we find some beautiful unspoiled and inaccessible beaches, including Calamosche, Vendicari with its Natural Fauna Oasis, and the beautiful San Lorenzo. For culture enthusiasts, the Greek theatre of Syracuse and the entire archaeological park with the Ear of Dionysius, a cave carved into the limestone in the shape of a human ear, the Paolo Orsi museum, and the Latomie dei Cappuccini, as well as Ortigia itself with its historical and cultural beauty as well as its landscape, are worth a visit. Not to be overlooked is Noto, the seafront with the tuna fishery of Avola, and finally the seaside village of Marzamemi. In short, Sicily is a land to explore and its natural and cultural beauties are treasures to fill your eyes with.

Catania Fontanarossa airport is about 66 km away, and Comiso Pio La Torre airport is 111 km away. The Syracuse train station is a 10-minute drive from Ortigia.

The place had a wonderful location and great view. We will give it that. Some suggested improvements include new pillows, kitchen towels, napkins, mattresses. Power went out a few times. Bathroom smell and water pressure. View was terrific.

Lovely apartment with a beautiful view

A great apartment for the 5 of us, in a very good location. Walked distance to places to eat and the sights. Well appointed kitchen and living area, so nice to sit with the lounge windows open to admire the view. Comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Very helpful staff at check-in, great information given for dining options as well. We would definitely stay there again @

I’ll be surprised if this posts. I reached out to the “company” that owns this property (they are in Milan). I reached out to VRBO who is representing & promoting this property on the platform. Wonderful Italy is what we call a “slumlord “ in US. I took photos….a dozen of them. If it wasn’t broken, it was rusted. This place is a pure “scrape”…meaning nothing is salvageable. It needs total renovation.

We absolutely loved this apartment in Ortigia! The location and view were fabulous, and it had three bedrooms and three bathrooms and also an elevator in the building. Our only issues were that one shower wasn’t working, and the response time on communication was sometimes one or more days through the management company. Also, it would’ve been helpful if there was a manual to explain how the air conditioning units work. Many things were documented digitally online, but there were not detailed instructions on how to control the air conditioner so we had challenges with that in all of the rooms, as every unit was different. We also had questions regarding trash disposal that were not really answered, but we asked people in stores nearby and were able to figure it out. Those issues were all relatively minor though and all the wonderful things about the apartment more than made up for the small issues.

The view was beautiful. However, as noted by others, this apartment needs major renovation. One bathroom has a non-functional shower, sink, and bidet. All bathroom had variable water pressure. Be careful to temper hot water enough, it is hot enough to scald your skin if not tempered. The hospitality score was way below zero. No interface with a human ever. One bath, face, and handhold per person only. No beach towels. No clothes dryer so hard to wash towels during our stay. Kitchen has the bare minimum or less. No waste basket! Except for organic waste. No complimentary coffee, salt, pepper, olive oil, napkins, not even a sponge or dish towel. Perhaps we were just spoiled by all the other hosts at the VRBOs we stayed at in Rome and Taormina. Complimentary fruit baskets, bottled water and acqua con gas. Daily check ins by text making sure everything was good. We wished we had stayed at a hotel instead, and we dislike hotels.

The best decision we made was staying here.

This property is amazing. Great location close to the coop and great restaurants, AMAZING view, nice pool, and plenty of bedrooms. The property owner was very responsive and helpful. However the reason you book this unit is for the views. We spent all our time on the huge cover patio which was set up with compatible furniture. My only suggestion would be to drastically trim the plants on the sea view side, they block too much of the view. Oh, also be ready for lots of stairs to get from the street to the apartment, but it's totally worth it. I hope we make it back some day!

The host was great. We arrived before check-in and they were so kind to allow us to get into the apartment early. The view is truly stunning! But the apartment could use a little attention. It should have a smart TV. The signal on the TV comes and goes, which made watching the Olympic Games frustrating. Would have been nice to sign into our own Netflix or Prime accounts in the evenings. Some end tables for the sofas and lamps would help. No coffee is provided, no paper towels or even a dish towel. The wine opener was broken (I left a new one), no ice trays and the freezer needed defrosting. No soap dishes for two of the showers, so nowhere to put shampoo, etc. except on the shower floor. This apartment is sparse. But, it’s also very clean, spacious and, that view is priceless. Really, a few hundred euros could elevate it into something fabulous. The location is just a short walk to the heart of Ortigia and there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The elevator was a big help and the building is very safe and the nights were quiet in the bedrooms away from the seafront. We are glad we stayed and the price is extremely fair for such a great view and location.
Watching the sunrise from the apartment is fabulous.
