Hotel definitely needs some TLC. Furniture wise it’s showing some age, wear and tear. In my room, some lights were not working and the safe was not working until we got the staff to check in. May not be a big thing to some but for me, when most 5-star hotels I stayed are starting to have an updated entertainment system that allows you to do Netflix, YouTube or even Airplay/screen share to the hotel’s TV, and in Shangri-la it was only the basic digital TV offering, feels like it’s a bit outdated.
Generally speaking, may be the hotel being in Da’an area is at a premium, the surrounding is definitely more residential than touristy. Hotel to the nearest MRT station (there are 2) and they are at least a 10-15min walk away, not as convenient at some of the other hotels I stayed.
Overall, a score of 2-star was because 1) inside feels dated, 2) wear and tear on furniture 3) some lights not working 4) outdated entertainment system. And no consideration on location as that cannot be changed by the hotel.
