”Such a pleasant surprise. I have spent over 55 years travelling around the world, mainly on business. Sadly, the UK proved to be the most disappointing country for hotels and restaurants. Not this one. A pleasant and helpful receptionist, a superb team in the bar and restaurant for dinner and breakfast this morning. A bedroom twice the size of any Premier Inn, a super king bed, most comfortable. All in all, one of the most positive experiences all round. Congratulations to all the great team...

”This Lodge is a family run business. They are all pleasant and accommodating, especially John who remembers your name and knows what drink to serve you after a long day.
The place is clean and warm. I’ve stayed in much larger hotels and must admit Victoria Lodge takes precedence over some of these overpriced hotels. ”

”Wow. This was an amazing experience. The woman who greeted and took care of us (Emma?) was the most wonderful host and the hardest working person I have ever met. The room was fantastic with a great view and the experience in general was magical.
The only downside was that the published open times for the tavern were not correct and the links in their welcome books seemed broken. Everything else, fantastic. A great find in a historic space. Worth every penny. ”
