Thruscross Reservoir The reservoir was constructed in the 1960's and involved the evacuation of the hamlet of Thruscross and the flooding of its church, the remains of which can be seen very occasionally after long periods of drought.

Thruscross Reservoir. The Name Thruscross derives from the name of the Norse God Thor, prior to the reservoir being completed in 1966 almost the whole of the village of West End was demolished, I remember a hiking trip to the deserted village in the early sixties when all the buildings where stood empty with every window and door frame removed prior to demolition.

Something good, something to improve
Staff were very helpful, accessibility was very good. Cleaning the room wasn´t very good; needed to go ask towels, bath mats, suger, coffee. Also needed to give feedback to keep objects at same place, not moving them (blind). They had a wedding parties and music was very loud till early morning. ...

Comfortable and clean room, staff very friendly. Car park very convenient and hotel close to shops bars and restaurants. A good breakfast was let down by hot options - overcooked bacon, dry mushrooms, weird tasting beans and scrambled the only option of eggs.
