My first attempt at a serious panorama of the Milky Way, our home galaxy. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse provides an ideal location since it faces the right direction to compose such a panorama while maintaining the balance in the image.

This shot is composed of 6 vertical shots shot at 30 degrees of rotation and merged in Photoshop. Added to the usual difficulties of shooting and composing a panorama at night, this night was crazy hot with nighttime temperature in the mid 80s, no breeze and humidity so high that the lens had to be wiped after every exposure. On top of it, the mosquitoes had a field day running rings around me and no amount of bug spray helped. But in spite of all that, I managed to walk away with an image and experience that does appeal to me.

”We stayed in Knot One and it was the perfect location and size for us. We brought our dog and his only issue was that the stairs were very dark at night and he had difficulty getting down to potty. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant across the ICW (reserve the prime rib!!!) and even had live music. We came by boat and reserved a slip with the Coinjock Marina. Our slip was right next to our room. We have already started planning our next trip to Coinjock! ”

” This was my first visit to the Eastern Shore of Virginia & I couldn't have found a better place to stay! The cottage was clean, cozy, oh so comfortable, & in a great location within easy walking distance to the heart of town. Also had all the amenities needed. ” Rey clean lovely condo with a wonderful view of the river. Sunrise was gorgeous. Bed was super comfortable. Colonial beach is my new favorite little vacation town. Very friendly people. Our host was so responsive and welcoming. Much appreciate his quick response to questions. There were a lot of steps to climb to get to the condo but that’s probably a good thing for a Bach front property. We would definitely love to stay here again. ”
