Great facilities, amazing location but disappointing breakfast (very limited selection of foods and a poor service). Had to wait 5-10 mins to be seated, multiple times essentials were missing ( butter, fruits, eggs etc). Cups were dorty, table was not cleaned after previous guests.

Convenient - and beautiful - location for the Lakes, such friendly and helpful staff, very striking building, family friendly…nothing to dislike, unless you don’t care for the sound of rushing river water which was audible in our room. We absolutely loved it.

Really enjoyed the Spa. Its free for hotel guests and included a pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym, squash court, table tennis table, dance studio. In addition there are more Spa facilities upstairs which require payment The hotel is in a lovely setting overlooking rapids on the river Leven. You can watch kayakers and white water rafters tackle fierce rapids passing under the bridge next to the hotel. You can also see the heritage steam train pass on the opposite hill.

The transport links was good, direct bus into Bowness nearby and could take the Haitherwaite station (steam train) is a short walk away.

We have had an amazing experience! I was there with my partner and my daughter. We booked a room for 3 nights over the Easter break. The room was nice and cosy for us. We used the leisure twice and it wasn’t never so busy and managed to swim and use sauna, steam and jacuzzi. The gym was well equipped. The staff from reception and from the restaurant was kind and very friendly. We had breakfast included and I loved the sausages! So so tasty! Overall we had great time there. Thank you

Stayed for two nights .staff were friendly helpful .used the pool and steam rooms all clean. We had a meal in the restaurant which we both enjoyed lovely location.We would both return when next week are in the lakes

Having driven for 6 hours when I checked in at 17:00 I was asked if I would be dining, at this point I was insure and wanted to use the leisure facilities to unwind but was told I needed to let them know before 17:30 so I booked for 19:30 as last sitting was 19:45. On arrival in the restaurant there was only about 10 other people in there so not sure what the issue was. I was also advised on check in that the earliest I could have breakfast was 08:00am, not a great hotel for a business traveler.

Nice location for what we needed. Hotel looks lovely from the outside with plenty of free parking. Inside reception was nice and staff were really friendly. Property a but dated but functional. Our roon was a let down and had a full on view of a sloped roof with a broken ladder on it we couldnt even see a tree. It made it very dark but i suppose, private! It didnt matter as much as we were out most of the time. Room was a bit dated but spacious and clean. The menu was a bit limited as we needed some pasta due to doing a run and there was nothing on there that was suitable for us so we had to eat out which was fine but would of liked tobhave eated there. The breakfast was nice with a cooked full english and then yoguhurts/cereal/toast available. I would say that it could possibly of been presented a bit better, maybe a bit more decoration? The spa was ok, pool was a bit cool but clean, the windows around the pool that looked onto the river were full of condensation so were all really misty and looked terrible. The steam room only worked for 1 day of our trip but the sauna was lovely, so was the indoor jacuzzi. The gym up stairs was ok but some of the gym equipment was really rusty and on the older side but again functional. I had a treatment whilst there but the massage felt a little rushed and actually bruised my shoulders as it was so repetitive. No advice was given to drink lots of water after which should be explained after a massage. I felt like it was very rushed .

Was disappointed that we could not charge drinks to our room whilst in the Blue Bar. Otherwise a very pleasant and comfortable stay and really enjoyed the Health Spa Facilities….!!! Would definitely stay again…

Best hotel.
One of the best hotels I've stayed at in quite a while. The location, parking and staff. As well as room and hotel restaurant was amazing. Only down point was that i only stayed for 3 nights. Will most definitely book this hotel when next in the area.

Good service and nice breakfast.
A 3 day stay for business. Very comfortable with a nice breakfast. Fabulous views across the river from the restaurant. I was also impressed that the hotel rang me to let me know that I had left an item in the room.

Ideal Lake District hideaway
Fantastic location, make sure to get a room with a river view, sound of rushing water can be quite loud but relaxing and sitting on the balcony with a cup of tea in the morning was a great way to start the day

Fantastic - and it has a gym
This place does have a gym - and quit a good one too. Never busy, enough kit and choice. Good pool and sauna - steam room was out of action, but that can happen to any place. Two very nice bars, and a separate restaurant. Plenty of choice on the menu, plus the specials. Sizable rooms, good WiFi and TV with comfortable beds. Very quiet location, well back from the main road, and it will take you about 30 mins to get in to Barrow if you’re working there. Had to go to work early so only had time for a quick bowl of cereal so they gave me a bacon bap to go – what stunning services. I’d go back in a heartbeat – great staff, all friendly and helpful.

Beautiful property next to a river; that could have been incredible with a little more TLC. As the hotel had a spa I thought it would have been a relaxing break for me and my partner. Unfortunately the spa was full of young children screaming, playing ball games and diving into the pool so we simply couldn’t relax or even take a swim. The staff were impeccable; they couldn’t do more to help! The breakfast was lovely.

I thought the hotel was beautiful the staff very welcoming our room was superb we only stayed one night due to attending Cartmel races but would have loved to stay longer very nice in all areas

Nice Hotel
Easy place to find (however, it is just off a very busy road so make sure you goggle maps it before going so you know where the entrance is). Plenty of car parking. Looking at the hotel from the river side it is very grand and looks grand. In the summer time it will look amazing. I have stayed here twice now but have found the beds not the comfiest, however, they have advised me they are in the process of replacing the mattress (i like hard mattress and ones i have laid on are soft) It has a gym which is good for a hotel, pool and sauna/steam. Not had an even meal yet as the restaurant has always been 2 quiet but the breakfasts are nice. I will stay again.

relaxing
the hotel is ran well and the location is ideal. the spa is a good place for getting some r&r. if your going to the lakes, your either 5 minutes from the the steam train, or 10 minutes by car. the family room, is nice and spacious and comfortable. the views are limited, if you in the wrong side but still its a good place if you want to come and relax

Great hotel for families
We have visited this hotel many times as the leisure facilities are excellent for families. The atmosphere is extremely pleasurable throughout and the staff are always polite and very helpful. Although this has not put me off going back again, I was disappointed with the wait for both dinner and breakfast. The room we had was also too hot overnight and unfortunately did not have windows that would open out wide. Overall I still love and would recommend this hotel.

Great stay and excellent food!
Overall a very pleasant stay. We were on a tour of Lancashire/ Edinburgh and finishing at the Whitewater hotel spending a few nights at each destination. We had a family bedroom which was very spacious and nicely furnished for a traditional lake hotel. Our beds were a little less comfortable compared to those we had slept on at the other destinations, but not so it stopped us from getting a good nights sleep. The bathroom was very spacious and very clean. The spa facilities excellent although the ladies changing room was a little on the small size and showers could have been better. We decided to take the dinner bed and breakfast option and I have to say the food served in restaraunt was exceptional. Breakfast was also very pleasant. The staff were excellent offering good information and service. Although the hotel was slightly out of the way from where we had originally planned to stay, I would definitely return for guaranteed good service and excellent food.
