”Loved our honeymoon stay here! Perfect home base for a week of exploring the area. Loved the pool and especially loved the amazing generous and delicious free breakfast every morning! The only issue we had were tiny ants in our room that made a few surfaces unusable, and we had to be very cautious not to prepare food in the room. But we understand that’s normal in the jungle so we weren’t bothered. ”

”Isolated deserted hotel from the 1960s looks like it’s falling apart. Location on Expedia listing is misleading - it is 2km scary switchbacks poor road up a hill from where it is shown. Got food poisoning from restaurant ”

”It was so beautiful and Alvaro’s kindness and graciousness as a host made it even more memorable! We had wonderful adventures in the La Fortuna area and to be able to have some “down time” on the dreamy balcony was so rejuvenating. We’d highly recommend staying here!”

Your bathing options are to fill and drain an enormous spa size tub or slip & slide on uneven jacuzzi seats spraying water everywhere. The hotel response “you booked a jacuzzi suite”. ”Secreto la Fortuna was nice Hotel with a perfect location. Staff was friendly and really helpful and Spike english pretty well. Hotel is built quite recently so the garden is going to be much nicer than it is right now. No complains!”

The hot tub was a nice treat after adventures in the area - ziplining (Sky Adventures was great), the waterfall (super close to this hotel), Arenal hike and hot springs (we went to Ecotermale). There was also a great restaurant right next door called Chante Verde. ”
