”Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. ”We stayed in an upstairs courtyard room. The room was clean and well presented with the bedding fresh. All the staff that we interacted with were a credit to the hotel and nothing felt like too much trouble. We opted for breakfast each morning of our two night stay and the quality of the ingredients and service were a highlight of our visit. ”Definitely not a 4 star property. It was decent but not great. It is the only place I've ever stayed where the wifi signal doesn't even reach the 2nd floor - we couldn't use it at all. The floor squeaked and creaked with every step. I understand that it's an older building but it wasn't ideal.”

”We had a lovely 2 day break at the Park Head Hotel. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and top quality. Our dog, Tilly was well looked after too. Barnard castle and the surrounding area are beautiful with some great walks along the river.”

”Check in was quick and easy. Staff were helpful and polite, even moved me from a room in the inn to an annexe room so I could be away from noise from bar. Also had a very good breakfast which is extra but excellent value for money. Definitely recommend it hotel and breakfast.”

”Great hotel with lots of activities for the kids. Gym was huge with lots of equipment and classes. We had a family suite which was huge with separate bedrooms for kids and adults. Only small let downs were the shower pressure being terrible, hotel was super hot even though it wasn’t a warm day, but the did provide us with fans. Breakfast had a great selection but gluten free options ran out quickly and weren’t replaced.”
