”Nice location (quite remote and quiet) and friendly staff. Some gaps in the breakfast service, e.g. lacking glasses, plates etc. And the breakfast ended already at 9 which was very early for me. The condition of the hotel was quite worn-out and occasionally dirty, there were several spiderwebs and spiders in the hallway and the smell of our room was musty. ”

The historic manor house buildings are beautiful, tastefully updated to allow a glass-walled dining wing that looks out over the rolling green hills. It’s a stunning setting. The bedroom is the only shortcoming. Peer facilities might offer visitors pillows of various stiffness to accommodate different sleepers’...

”Excellent atmosphere- very friendly towards dog- was very wet when we got there but there was a dog towel in hallway and dog bed in the room . Room very clean and unfussy. Hotel itself has a lovely comfortable cosy feel about it. Staff very attentive and food v good too! Would recommend! ”

”5 stars are not enough for the George and Dragon - the absolute best care and hospitality can be found here! Such a gem in a beautiful village with so much history. All the staff were so kind and accommodating, and the food was delicious and generous portions. Only place open for dinner in the evening so be sure to reserve! Highly highly recommend. ”

”Great stay for two night break on the coast to Coast trail. Staff was friendly and helpful. Friday nights are very loud with karaoke so be prepared! Food was good, but basic pub food. Breakfast had several choices and the avocado and poached egg was especially good. There's an awesome Indian restaurant called the mango tree just a few buildings down. Laundromat behind the Black Bull hotel which was very convenient. About 6 pounds to run the washer and one or two for the dryer. There's a tourist...
