”Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side. The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet. ”Stayed five times, excellent hotel fro a short break away .”

”Difficult for the hotel as there was a power cut for quite a few hours following the storm”

”I've stayed at the Trout a number of times, it is a pretty, well maintained hotel with lots of character and ideally placed to explore Cockermouth, the Western Lakes and the national park. The food is good and the staff are professional and very friendly.”

”We have stayed here three times now & love the friendly homely atmosphere. The apartment is perfect for me & my son and he loves the swimming pool! The gym has plenty of equipment & my treadmill faces a field of cows & the odd pig which was lovely! Will definitely be staying again”

Cooked breakfast was fantastic as was dinner … but … why oh why would you feature Nothumbrian sourced ingredients in the...

”I received a very warm greetings g when I arrived and was shown to my room, the room was very clean with a view of the train station which was amazing. I had dietary requirements and they were very happy to help. I really enjoyed it and will definitely return”

”Excellent communication from staff and really helpful and friendly”

”Well positioned in Cockermouth. Stairs upto bed rooms may be challenging for some guests. Easy parking, well stocked bar, pleasant communal rooms and garden. Best part of this hotel by far is the very welcoming friendly staff and superb breakfast.”

”Bed was awful but the people who work there are extremely helpful and nice and the cooked breakfast was superb. Get a ev charger !!”

”Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Property is in need of some TLC, and could be an excellent venue. Gardens in need of de-weeding and some cutting back on trees, brambles etc.”
