Dear Matkaaja, First of all, pardon me for responding in English, and not in Finnish. Secondly, thank you for choosing to stay with us during your recent visit to Zagreb. As you know firsthand, I'm completely up to speed with your grievance, and I'm sorry to see that you left us so dissatisfied. As you wrote in my response to your partner’s review on another impression site, I made every attempt to compensate for the distress you felt on the evening you detected the scent of smoke in your room. As soon as I received your e-mail message, I had my front office arrange for an upgrade (move to a suite) and a VIP amenity. We failed you in that my Engineering staff neglected to physically come and speak to you immediately, so as to explain what the cause of the smell you detected was. I can assure you that we take guest safety very seriously. For the record - your complaint was looked into straight away by my on-duty Engineering associate, and all safety hazards were ruled out as the cause of the irritating odour. The problem lies in the fact that my staff didn't communicate this to you immediately, and offer to move you at that point in time. I had a serious discussion with my Chief Engineer and Front Office Manager where I explained to the both of them that our staff has an obligation to deal with guests in an engaging manner, and how it is paramount that guests are fully informed and comfortable with explanations we give them in the event of safety & technical grievances. Our property is equipped with the latest state-of-art smoke & CO detection equipment that's mandated for us as a obligatory global brand standard by our Franchise Partner. We adhere to very strict EU codes & Starwood Standards on Fire Protection & General Guest Safety, and we're audited a minimum of 2-3 times annually by authorized 3rd Parties to ensure that we're aligned.
