”This is a great place to stay highly recommend! Reasonably priced and very good value. The room we had was quite comfortable on the top floor with a private balcony area, perfect for us smokers. We were right in the heart of the center easy walking distance to castle and pubs/ nightlife. The front desk is located just across the street and the staff were all super friendly and helpful! Would stay again for sure if ever back in the area great job!”

”I stayed at Holiday inn express braintree with my friend for 3 nights (a weekend). We stayed for V Festival in Chelmsford, but every hotel in C was full. There was literally no place to get food from, took a taxi to get to city centre (about £5) and back to get food on a friday night. To festival we took a bus that hotel's staff knew nothing about. Bus took about 35 minutes and cost £2,8-£5. The last bus back from Chelmsford was around 11pm on Saturday and 10pm on Sunday, so if you wantedto stay...

”It was really unfortunate to arrive at a time when the key system was down. Every time needed to leave my room (2nd floor) to the restaurant (1st floor) or gym (5th floor) and back to the restaurant, I needed to first go to reception (ground floor), to ask someone to come up stairs to let me back into my room. Staff were wonderful and clearly trying to make my stay more comfortable but it made it a less pleasant experience.”

”I took on board comments about lack of noise-proofing from other reporters Anna that is the only thing preventing a 5* review. ”It as a beautiful 1400 Grade 1-listed building, which was great, but I had problems with the shower. In my initial room the water was lukewarm at best. I was moved to another where the water was hot but the shower was weak. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was good. They had soya milk for my coffee.”

I attended a wedding at Braxted Park which was a short drive away but did not get a chance to check out the area around the property hence only average stars for that. Staff are very friendly too. Will certainly choose to stay here if in the area again. ”
