”The problem was the woman at the front desk. Since the room was locked with a key card, I assumed it was safe, so I left my phone's charger plugged in when I left the room in the morning. ”I stayed at HI San Francisco Downtown for an extended stay while I was in San Francisco, and I had a genuinely good experience. The location is extremely convenient, especially for getting around the city by BART and public transit. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the common areas made it easy to work, relax, and meet people from different places. ”I really liked the beds and large lockers. Also many showers and cool lounge. BUT the price is high, too, and I would not stay in this area in downtown if I want some pleasure living. Most importantly, the staff was incredibly rude at least to me, without any reason –– usually hostels are more welcoming and cool.”

”I had issues (twice...) with the codes not working when trying to enter my room which made me feel unsafe especially when this happened midnight. Reception is not open after 10pm so I received help via Whatsapp and staff was helpful. Other things that lower my rating were the metal beds that made a lot of noise. Also the whole floor only had 2 showers working. I have never had to wait to shower in hostel before. I wish toilets had more hooks to put towels/clothes in and rooms had mirrors....
