I might be old-fashioned, but back in the day there would be immediate compensation for a satisfactory resolution, i.e. free breakfast. Something like this would have made up for the issue, but nothing was offered. Feels like "thank you for your £200+, we dont care how it was for you, we are just happy to have your money". There are cheaper hotels nearby for a matching comfort level.
