Only six of these historic bridges remain in operation, and the Newport Bridge is the longest with a 196m span (645ft). A modern highway bridge passes nearby, so these days the bridge operates as a novelty. Show up on either side, and the operator will come pick you up! You can also climb the steps and walk across the 54m (180ft) high catwalk.
