”Very good value for money, everything you need is there including WiFi. Some small areas needing attention but nothing serious. Only downside was building works going on in an attached building, loud banging from 6am.”

”This has got to be one of the friendliest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel staff were so lovely and helpful; they always greeted you with a smile and made you feel so welcome. The hotel is ideally placed to visit York with a pleasant 5-10 minute walk from the main sights and river. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast delicious. I’d highly recommend this to anyone visiting York and would definitely stay again.”

”Your classic inn with worn down rooms and most basic breakfast. Uninterested staff who coukdn’t care less that there were BLOOD STAINS on the rug of our room. Got another room which after confirming two times was not similar than the bloody one we left behind. ”

”Booked for a birthday present. Was nice but we were in the Roman house bit which is a new extension so if you are wanting to stay in the original grand hotel you should probably request as I was surprised to be in a new extension. Also opposite the extension there were significant building works going on and the road could be quite noisy with bikes and car exhausts even on the top floor. Staff were lovely albeit housekeeping were a little slow at getting round to our room and the phone did not...

”Really great hotel with so much attention to detail. Record players in the room and a huge selection of records is a really nice touch. The Radio was on when we arrived to our room and the Pantry is generous & a really unique touch. Canadian lady on the Bar was knowledgeable & super friendly (Pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the extensive bar menu was priced). Just really really cool & great location.”

”Nice and modern hotel close to the centre and key locations. Only negative aspect was the really loud music playing in the lobby, which makes it quite annoying entrance everytime you return to the hotel. Luckily the sound insulation is top class and you can’t hear the music - or anything else for that matter - in the rooms. ”
