”Room appeared clean until I put my stuff on the bed. Hairs on the bed sheets and some kind of liquid on the pillows. Reception sorted straight away but the whole room wasn’t as clean as it should have been. Dirty hand marks on the walls bathroom strands of hair on the toilet seat and in the shower. ”

”I stayed at Holiday inn express braintree with my friend for 3 nights (a weekend). We stayed for V Festival in Chelmsford, but every hotel in C was full. There was literally no place to get food from, took a taxi to get to city centre (about £5) and back to get food on a friday night. To festival we took a bus that hotel's staff knew nothing about. Bus took about 35 minutes and cost £2,8-£5. The last bus back from Chelmsford was around 11pm on Saturday and 10pm on Sunday, so if you wantedto stay...

”We can recommend this hotel unreservedly. Staff went out of their way to help us with our problems and make us comfortable. We first had to change our reservation due to the train strike and Joey took care of that, next we wanted twin instead of double beds and Emily took care of that. Everytime we asked for help they were able to do something. The hotel is very conveniently located in the high street, clean and welcoming. Food in the bar is excellent.”

”We stayed 2 nights. The view of Maldon quay from our room was excellent. Breakfast was fantastic. The staff were lovely. We felt the hotel would benefit from an update if possible as access to the upetairs bedrooms is appalling, through part of the kifchen which also disperses kitchen smells upstairs. ”The propert was lovely, our room was modern and up to date. The beds and pillows were so comfortable and clean! The bathroom was so lovely and clean. I loved that you didnt have to go through the pub to get to the rooms although there was a walkway into the pub at the bottom of the steps if you wished too. Staff were friendly and very helpful. ”

”This hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Chlemsford and it is only a short walk to the mainline train station, which has excellent and frequent Greater Anglia train services to London. The hotel staff, especially the reception ladies, are very friendly and pleasant, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet has now been replaced by a freshly cooked to order offering, for which you need to allow extra time. My only gribble was the breakfast coffee was tepid.”

”It as a beautiful 1400 Grade 1-listed building, which was great, but I had problems with the shower. In my initial room the water was lukewarm at best. I was moved to another where the water was hot but the shower was weak. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was good. They had soya milk for my coffee.”

”This was the 4th time staying at the George and for the last 2 times ive a room with a very small tv. So s.all on this stay that watching the football i had difficulty seeing who was who and were the ball was. Otherwise the staff are friendly the meal i had very good.
