There is a festival that takes place in spring in this town called Trail Days where various outdoor activities take place. The Appalachian mountains is a place where thousands of hiking trails are located, and hiking is a common activity done by residents with in these mountains, so having an entire town dedicated to the activity is almost to be expected. #appalachianechoes

This image captures the desire to help keep a clean environment that many residents with in Appalachia have. Also, there is this stereotype in Appalachia that if you are not a hillbilly then you must be a hippie with this tree hugger mentality. Within the image there are multiple peace signs further emphasizing the tropes associated with hippie culture. Overall the photo demonstrates that there is still a hippie mentality of peace, love, and conservation present in the Appalachian Mountains. #appalachianechoes
