”Bedroom was clean and modern, bathroom hadn’t been cleaned with marks on the floor along with hairs and flies in sink. Hot water wouldn’t turn on in bath, sink and kitchen sink. Big tv but no tv remote to go with it. No bin in any room.”

”A great one night stay on my way up to Scotland. Fabulous hospitality and made to feel very welcome. Had a peaceful night's sleep. Janice cooks a mean omelette for breakfast and enjoyed my packed lunch. Lovely estuary walking and lots of nature reserves in the area. Would stay again if in the area.”

”The room was not serviced on two days out of four - the reason given was that the housekeeper did not work those days. The restaurant was closed for evening meals at short notice. The entrance door was closed and locked early in the evening and my keys did not work on occasions.”

”Room was lovely! Stayed the night with my young son after diggerland 🚜 (only an hour away) Staff were great, room was clean, food was fab, bed was super comfortable! Easy to park, relaxing atmosphere, felt safe! Would 100% recommend 👏 ⭐ ”

”Dianne went out of her way to be helpful at all steps of our stay. Great parking facilities, great shower, comfy bed. Everything needed was provided and well thought through. We were able to arrange to collect the keys early as we were due at a wedding and Dianne went out of her way to help us arrange a taxi booking to and from the venue nearby. Breakfast was varied and plentiful.”

”Very friendly staff, our room was spacious and clean. It was an accessible room and the bathroom had plenty of handrails, just one problem the bath was too steep and high too get into for someone with accessibility issues. A walk In shower would have been more accessible. Breakfast was great. I had to go back for extra sausage lol”

”Some people were born to host. Maurice & Laureen have created a very special B&B experience for anyone lucky enough to stay. It feels more like a boutique 5* hotel with attention to detail and luxury furnishings. The highlight of my stay was the beautiful breakfast of refreshing creamy pot with fruit compote, followed by muffin with perfectly poached eggs, spinach, homemade hollandaise sauce, chives and roast tomatoes. ”I needed an overnight stay en route to scotland . Cartref was easy to get to from M6 and felt clean and cosy. Traffic was a little noisy ( I had to open window due to heatwave) but the host thoughtfully supplied earplugs as well as various other "extras " for myself and the dog. Shared bathroom was clean and easily accessible. I would recommend Cartref if visiting Carlisle or just passing through and i would certainly consider staying here again if in the area.”
