”Lovely place, lovely people, lovely breakfast. No air conditioning was a bad feature. The fan provided had no impact. If it had been the heatwave week it would have been unbearable.”

”The Barnsdale hotel is in a lovely and convenient setting with ample parking. The Sydnet spa is great and the pool was wonderful for an afternoon cool down. Plus super cute Highland cows! Breakfast and dinner is wonderful in the beautiful courtyard. The Barnsdale is an old building which means the lack of air conditioning was a challenge during the heatwave. The power shower remains a mystery why anyone thought this was a good choice to install!”

”Overall the hotel was nice with a comfortable room and’s beds and great shower! We could have used a mini fridge but there were none. The lack of AC was a challenge as we stated in July and the temp was quite hotel at night, even with the windows open. No fans available either. The staff was very nice and kindly let is check out later which was really helpful.”

Our bath panel had been severely damaged by water and whilst the aircon cooling worked well it was like having a tractor in the room! ”V disappointing stay. Booked a superior room, which looked very nice on Expedia. Unfortunately our room looked nothing like the pictures online, the decor was very tired especially the bathroom which had paint flaking off the walls. Further, the room was very hot and with the need to open windows, very noisy due to the road in front of the hotel. ”Good value especially given the location in the centre of town in the more historic part of the town near to St Wulfrums church and some good historic pubs”

”Overall, we had a great stay. The hotel and its location were excellent, and the grounds were beautifully maintained and kept to a very high standard. The only disappointing aspect was the hotel restaurant. The food was average and didn't quite meet our expectations. If we were to return, we would probably choose to dine at restaurants nearby instead.”

”There is a photo of a Jacuzzi bath on the garden rooms. I thought I would pay extra for a jacuzzi bath but I was told that was only in the bridal suite, I was very disappointed and felt this was blatantly misleading so it’s worth considering that, they should change the picture really! Also I think they need a new kettle in the room, it looked very scaly and dirty, (see photo).”

”We were put in the annex roof room which had suffered earlier water damage. While we understand that Victorian houses are not the same as today's the stairs were extremely narrow and dangerous, especially when carrying suitcases. The windows also need replacing, the double glazing was a manual effort”

”The bed was very comfortable. When the new manager gets the showers updated and the rooms painted it will become excellent. The food was exellent and the staff were very attentive.”

”The staff were great and helpful, Breafast was very good, and our evening meal exelent bar was well staffed in the evening and well stocked , unfortunately the cleanliness of our room was not good , especially the shower, which had black mould on the tiles and shower door was in need of some maintenance, the toilet was not clean behind seat and in the hinges of seat and lid was not clean , and the sink has a large crack in it .”
