”Rooms were nice and clean, check in swift and staff friendly. Had the worst nights sleep of my life though. Had to move rooms at 12am as couldn’t get to sleep in my first room due to a constant drone sound from a pump in the building. Reception staff moved me immediately. Finally settled down in the new room only for the fire alarm to go off at 2am. I’m sure my experience would’ve been fine had it not been for those problems”

”Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Yes it was budget and it was just for an overnight stop in a continuing journey but broken tiles, broken and damaged panels & threadbare curtains. No staff available in the morning to discuss. Just very Delapidated and way past worn out!!”

”Very clean room, very large too. Breakfast had a large selection, but no cheese at all and only scramled eggs, no sunny side up or hard boiled. Coffe was very good.”

”Beautiful and comfortable room and bathroom. Very well equipped and exceptional provisions. Excellent breakfast. Great evening meal. Limited motorbike parking (lethal gravel) but found a spot on entrance paths.”

”The property was advertised by the Arkel group as having been taken over in 2018 , the rooms were being programmed to be decorated and brought into excellent condition. Unfortunately they hadn’t , now in 2026 ,they hadn’t gotten around to our room , room number 4. Wallpaper was hanging off over the bed, a rug had been pulled over a very threadbare carpet at a strange angle, the curtains were extremely old and the bathroom was barely fit for use. Such a shame as the staff were absolutely lovely...

”Lovely setting, great welcome, food superb, staff friendly and helpful We had the suite (kingfisher) which was an excellent room except for a radiator being stuck on in the bathroom. The lady in charge (lovely lass) managed to get it sorted as the outside temp was up in the 30’s!!! If I have any criticism of the room, a little use of bleach would have gone a long way but please don’t let that put you off. The place is very very good. This is our second time staying and it definitely won’t be...

”Excellent place to stay. We went to Peppa Pig World for multiple days, and really enjoyed the beatiful and comfortable place to stay. Food was also great. Staff was super friendly. Was our 2nd stay and will come back! ”

Small attention to details noted - a radiator that was hung very unevenly in our room (eye catching, long term dust build-up on the headboard, staining/drips/splashes on walls next to the toilet and 2 broken windows in 'attic' windows (not what you expect to see when you first arrive at this otherwise beautiful building). ”Beautiful historic mansion. We walked thru nearby parks to the riverfront for lunch. The outdoor restaurant at Orange Grove was very pleasant for an evening dinner and happy hour. The admiral lounge is very comfortable while waiting for pickup to go to the airport or cruise ships.”
